# SDMB: World White Web?

So I was thinking…
I don’t know a single Doper reg who is black. Is this like Star Wars before Billy Dee Williams came around in the sequel because Richard Pryor called George Lucas out?
If we are to truly be the “Teeming Millions,” we need representation from all walks of life. Despite this, we’re as white as Frank Black, and we need some Barry White, baby!
We here at the SDMB had a decided lack of Fundamentalist Christians. Thankfully, thanks in no small part to my grievous error (sorry, Nav!), we got some.
So we got the Christians… but now we need soul!
Someone (and does it really have to be me again?) needs to recruit some Nubian brothers and sisters to increase the diversity that this white as a crowd at a Pat Buchanan rally MB lacks.
Oh, and BTW - Do we in fact HAVE a black person on this board? A lurker? Anyone? Bueller? Oh wait… Ferris was white too. Damn…

PCW, that reminds me of the muppets.
I remember how on Sesame St. about a decade and a half ago (when I was small, and therefore could watch it without being called a weirdo), none of the muppets had human skin tones. They were all yellow and red and and blue and purple.
But I was just watching it the other day (because I AM in fact a weirdo), and I noticed that they have “black” muppets now. I wonder if this was the result of complaints? “I look at Sesame St. and I see red, green, yellow and blue muppets, but where are the BLACK muppets?! Where’s the _diversity_??”
This is MPSIMS, dammit…I’ll go wildly off-topic if I want.

Nubians are the lop-eared dairy goats.
Oh. . . The ancient kingdom of Nubia was located on the upper Nile. Trade (and conquest) between Nubia and Egypt provided most of the contact that Europeans had with black Africans. (There were several joint Nubian/Egyptian kingdoms when they weren’t trying to dominate each other. This has led to some of the more fanciful claims by some black authors that Egypt was a “black” civilization. It appears that Nubia did, indeed, contribute to Egypt’s culture in their 3,000 year association, but not to the extent that some recent authors would like to believe.) Because Greece borrowed much of its culture and technology from Egypt, Nubians appear in several Greek myths.
As to the OP: **SterlingNorth** is and I’m fairly sure that **MrScott** is also black.

And I, just to be a jerk about it, am refusing to disclose my race. Looking back, I see that (darn it) I’ve already disclosed my sex, so no fun there. But I happen to have seen a few references by others here revealing their femaleness. So no crying foul that there’s no ladies present, 'cause there are.
