# SDMB's new civility goals

The (relative) lack of Ed-ness here and in other threads leads me to think that he’s decided to let everyone blow off steam until they’re exhausted. Then life will carry on. He may have factored in these outbursts; I can’t believe that he could have thought that the new rules would be accepted without comment.

Ed must have been pretty determined to carry out this policy, not least because the resignation of two decent mods cannot be seen as inconsequential.

But despite the huge levels of unhappiness, be under no illusion that the Board will carry on; maybe with a different flavour - but only in the Pit. My daughter is a member here, and reads and posts frequently. She has been, until I drew it to her attention, completely unaware of any of this. This is what I think Ed is banking on.
