So if I have ever donated to the SShepherd, which I haven’t, wherever that money came from, most definitely did not come from the OPU. And as for the claim that SShepherd ramming ships only when they are not being recorded on video, that is a lie, their website contains plenty of videos of them ramming ships. Just trying to stay on topic 😃 ---

Interesting. Is it possible that you are, in fact, a split personality of SmashTheState? Do you ever wake up after long, unexplainable blackouts? Do you have a difficult time remembering vivid details about your personal history? ---

Could everybody just consider perhaps a moratorium on taking (y)ourselves so goddamn seriously? I don’t doubt the sincerity of everyone’s causes and issues, but really … if posters here can mock the Catholic Church or Barack Obama or one another, so too should posters here be able to mock Sea Shepherds or the Panhandler’s Union or their supporters w/o people getting bent out of shape. BTW going back to the original issue, hey, I can dig serious revolutionaries. But I dig even better serious \*effective \*revolutionaries and there’s more than one way to do that. One job in the revolution is to raise awareness through publicity, and if you’re good at that, THAT in itself IS a worthy goal… but come clean and admit that _IS_ your gig and your strategy and not “direct action”. Doing it by putting on a show of half-arsed direct-action makes it look like you’re being defensive or timid about that role, lest your TV network corporate patrons and the presumed target audience of animal-loving kids and middle-class granolavores get scared. (OTOH it also tells me that a lot of the kids and granolavores are indeed easily thrilled just to see someone “standing up for the whales” even if they don’t save a single one.) THAT and not “balls frozen off” is how come Sea Shepherds on the TV show look so weak, IMO. The show that’s on TV is set up to try and show how the Shepherds are NOT ecoterrorists and it’s the whalers who are a violent threat. It’s a fine balancing act, and by trying to make “safe” TV (but with sexy hippy chicks) they’re flubbing it. ---

Knock it off. = = = By the same token, ridiculing public organizations is protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution as expanded and articulated in case law. We operate under U.S. jurisdiction, here, so we are not going to babysit and protect from ridicule those persons who publicly invite ridicule. OTOH, we take a very dim view of lawsuits, (particularly frivolous ones), and will explicitly remove from our board those who engage in threats of the same. [/Moderating] ---
