So the thread said “SEARCH ALL disabled.” So I thought “Human rights violation.” Seriously, just a couple of minutes ago I did a search in GQ (wondering what my kitty was dreaming about), and found a good discussion many months back. I’m glad that I was able to do so. Thanks Admins and Mods. I appreciate the effort and creativity you are putting toward the resource problem. ---

We set up the search function the way we did for a reason, NOT to be fucked with by a “limited few” with special knowledge looking for a little “luxury.” If we find people are going to be screwing with it in this way, then we may have no choice but to close it down. It does not make us very comfortable setting up things for a specific reason knowing that some clown is going to try to circumvent what we’re trying to do. You may not use the search function very often, but at least have some respect for those who do. ---

Um, if the workaround is that earth-shatteringly dangerous (for some reason I’m flashing on _Mercury Rising_, with Silo as the cute autistic kid who cracks the secret code, but then does that mean Euty has to be Bruce Willis?)… Anyway, why don’t you just delete any and all instances of it from this thread, if it’s that bad? 😕 ---

Well, the problem is you can’t un-ring that bell, now that people have read it. **Fierra** figured it out too, FYI, and decided (wisely, of course) **not** to use it or to post about it either, as that would clearly go against the wishes of the Administration here. So it is likely many others will figure it out on their own, and start using it. ---

Yah, but most of us don’t have Fierra’s attention span, meaning we won’t remember (a) that there is a workaround and (b) what it is, without having it written down somewhere to remind us. And just wanna mention (non-confrontationally) that so far, all the change in the Search function has done for me _vis-a-vis_ “speeding up the MB” is that instead of being slower than molasses in January, it is now only slower than molasses in February. And that’s a New England February, not a Deep South February. Urg. ☹ ---
