# Search Engines for Middle School Kids???

I’ve one kid who is in Middle School, the other about to finish Elementary. This problem is just killing me, and has for years. I’ve looked around the Web myself, and not had any luck. Here’s the deal.

When a kid has a research project, I find it almost impossible to let THEM work the Web to try to find materials that they can use. It’s too dense, difficult and adult in nature. ( Not porn, silly. Just adult )

Has anyone found Search Engines geared towards school kids? Ones that will let my daughter do a paper on Ancient Egypt without necessitating my enrolling her in the University of Cairo ???

Man, do I need the Straight Dope on this one. Be my saviors, Teeming Millions…

[This site](http://www.rcls.org/ksearch.htm) lists search engines for kids, including Ask Jeeves for kids, kidsclick, and Yahooligans. [TekMom](http://www.tekmom.com/search/) seems to have some different ones. I don’t know if any are the sort of thing you’re loooking for, but this is part of what a quick search turned up.
