It’s gonna be the Sockeye. Main color green with white and “salmon” accents. I was hoping for Kraken but the people with much more money than I have make those decisions. ---

The only place where such a decision was “made” was an unofficial _Seattle Times_ poll. My entry into the name the team contest was the Seattle Cohos. Could be called the “Ho’s” for short. ---

The Sockeyes will be funny when one of them gets a black eye from fighting. I kinda like the Seattle Lights (the whole spacecraft thing). I think the Kraken will be sunk due to the aforementioned drug-related connotations. ---

And especially how crack is associated with Black people. ‘We’re not chanting crackhead, we’re chanting Kraken.’ I could just see that racial slur being used against black players. It wasn’t too long ago that someone tossed a banana at Wayne Simmonds. I’ve been to a lot of hockey games and never seen bananas on sale at the concession stand so someone did it on purpose. ---
