It’s funny; when I saw the thread title I thought of Anthony Andrews, as the copy of _Brideshead Revisited_ that I have is from the 80s when the TV miniseries came out. I also have an old paperback copy of _Ivanhoe_ featuring Andrews on the cover from the TV movie that was out at the time. Oddly enough, although I never saw either movie, I did see Andrews starring in the TV movie for _The Scarlet Pimpernel_, but I never read the book!

I guess Andrews missed Cecil’s [February 8, 2002 column](http://www.straightdope.com/columns/020208.html) 😉
