Our beloved SDMB is scheduled for major surgery in 5 more hours (1AM Chicago time). Who knows if she will wake up and recognize any of us? How about a prayer vigil? A beer vigil? A virtual vigil? See y’all on the other side (I hope)! ---

Every operation has its risks, but I think it’s worth it. It’s not right to see the SDMB continue on this way. What sort of quality of life is it for a message board that can’t perform searches, update the front page, or keep track of unread posts? ---

It is like putting this under general anaesthesia. It is not likely, but the board _could_ die. Am I correct? Correct me if I am wrong. Anyway, I hope all goes well and this board stays. ---

What if… When you log on and post you see your username but everyone else sees a different user name. How will I know you are the real **Musicat**? ---

She said as long as she can still consume bandwidth, comprehend snark, and distinguish fact from woo, she doesn’t want anyone to pull the plug. In case of the worst she leaves everything to Ed (except for one megabye of space to be reserved for the wake using vBulletin for mobile). ---
