> I have the most common form of colour-blindness, red-green, which for me means certain shades of said colours are almost indistinguishable and potentially confused with each other.
>
> It doesn’t really manifest itself too often, bright green or vivid red is easily recognisable, it’s only certain muted dim tones, such as a business shirt, or something seen in dim evening light, I might be hard-pressed to know if it was a pink shirt or a pale green shirt. For my own sakes I tend to wear blue a lot, possibly subconsciously for this reason.

Which is exactly how Facebook became all blue - [Facebook is blue because Mark Zuckerberg is colorblind](http://factually.gizmodo.com/facebook-is-blue-because-mark-zuckerberg-is-colorblind-1598739229).

And I have to admit that it would never occur to me to call Barney the dinosaur purple as I think of purple as being bluer than Barney.

Well, there’s a spectrum… red-violet and blue-violet(purple), which I remember from my Crayola set. Barney is more to the reddish end, but he is not red or pink because he has too much blue in him. Whereas a concord grape is deep purple (maybe I’ll write a song with that title…) with very little red in it.

What color would you call Barney?

At least it’s just the trim. There is a house down the street that is entirely purple, and so is the fence around it. I’m sure they think it’s just too cool and hip, but it makes me slightly nauseous.

Dark Magenta.

Or, more colloquially, a vibrant radicchio or even better… fuchsia.
