# Seeking input about the "best song by letter" polls

I’m looking forward to sitting down and listening to all the songs. How long do the polls stay open for because I probably won’t have time to sit and listen to them all until Monday? Also can we vote for our own nominations? Although I will be very disappointed if I end up wanting to do that because it will mean I’ve not found something new.

The polls stay open for two days. That seems to be the point where the votes start to trickle in very slowly, or sometimes not at all. After a bit of tinkering this is the timeframe that I have settled in on.

You absolutely may vote on your own nominations. I would expect you to, in fact (although sometimes I forget to vote for my own).

I like the greater predictability of the 2000+ threads, it’s helpful in coming up with nominations to have time to think about the approaching letters.

And with that predictability, I think two days is sufficient time to have to vote on the polls.
