Eventually, the thinking is that e-prescriptions will eliminate some of the problems you and your husband are experiencing. Unfortunately, current DEA rules introduce their own problems, so the system isn’t perfect, but eventually, your husband should be able to have his doctor send his prescription electronically to his pharmacy of choice without all the extra driving involved (a 2 or 3 factor authentication will take the place of the signature). Hopefully your state is on track to allow for this kind of prescription issuance. ---

To the guy in the waiting room at the doctor’s office: The sign saying NO CELL PHONES doesn’t mean it’s okay to watch a very loud, violent movie on it, as long as you don’t place any calls. There are young children in the waiting room. ---

Pilling cats is much easier than giving them that bubblegum colored and tasting stuff. Pill between thumb and middle finger, use your forefinger to push the nose up and when the mouth opens shove the pill down. Offer gooshy food or put a syringe full of water between the now clamped jaws to be sure that the pill gets swallowed. I actually put a bowl of gooshy food in front of them before giving them the pill. That lets them know that they have good stuff on the way. For long term meds, treats on the table work just as well. I hope things work out and that your kitty will be just fine soon. My rant: I woke up with an ocular migraine in full swing. When I smell orange blossoms, I can take pills and ward it off. If I wake up seeing colors and can’t drive, I’ve just lost an entire day. I can’t go to work and complain, I can’t lay in bed and read, I can’t play online games. All I can do is sit in a dark room and not move because I’ll get dizzy and puke. Its almost a relief when the pain starts because that means I can sleep and get it over with. ---

I’ve always found it easier to get liquid meds into a cat than pills. Pills seem to be easier for the cat to spit out. ---

Whatever you do, if they offer suppositories as an alternative take the pills. ---

According to him, his doctor was out of the office for a week and then out sick and then they had issues with their voicemail system on top of all this crap. I sure hope that system comes through in Indiana quickly. My oldest kid is also on Adderall so I have to pick up scripts twice a month. (The kid’s is always ready on time if not early, because I handle myself.) ---
