Geez, I just read the thread that **Cervaise** kindly provided. This guy is not stupid. He doesn’t have the brains to _be_ stupid. He is utterly, irreversibly brain dead. Nice post, **Cervaise**. For the participants in this thread’s consideration: There does come a point where further confrontation regarding an individual’s delusions serves no useful purpose for the delusional individual, and may even increase agitation and hostility. Summing up one’s feelings regarding the situation, presenting said feelings, then detaching from the situation could represent the optimal response. I speak in the general case here only, but as a physician, I have learned when to walk away, and when to _run_. QtM ---

Mad props to **Cervaise** for his post in that thread. He said exactly what was on my mind, and more eloquently than I could have written. And excellent advice, **Qadgop the Mercotan**. I only responded to him once or twice relatively early in the thread, but gave up when I saw that trying to reason with him was akin to explaining quantum mechanics to a cocker spaniel. This guy’s mind is not only closed, it’s been welded shut by the force of his own delusions. On the upside, it’s the most entertaining (in a disturbing, “look-at-the-car-wreck” kind of way) thread I’ve seen since the days of JDT and his foreskin fixations. ---

From the last post, if he is indeed delusional and not just The Best Troll of All Time: 1. It looks like his meltdown is beginning. 2. It is quite possible that he is having a psychotic break. In typical schizophrenia, this often occurs in the early 20s, and can start with exactly these kinds of delusions. 3. It is important, as **Qagdop** said, not to play into his delusions. I extend the call (just as in the GD thread) to ignore him. Do not debate with him. It may let him get bored enough with us that he confronts issues IRL. Perhaps he will get some care. I think this potentially is a very scary situation. If it isn’t, then he is indeed the UltraTroll with the Amazing Steel Penetrating Attention Span. At least in the second case, when he eventually blows his cover he will be tossed faster than fried chicken after 10 shots of tequila with the little plastic sombrero on the cap. ---

I agree. He should be simply ignored. He’s a troll, pure and simple, and he’s doing what he does out of pure desire for attention. He can’t garner “good” attention- such as having written a clever and insightful post, or carrying on a well-reasoned and intelligent discussion- so he settles for “bad” attention. Flames, rants, insults and depreciations of character are seen by 'Art as simply four more people paying attention to him, and reading his works. I’ve argued with him in various boards under various names- his and mine- and he simply _cannot_ have a rational or valid conversation. He **CAN’T.** Questions go unanswered- the more pointed the question, the more pointedly it’s ignored or redirected. His sole argument is “I’m right, you’re just refusing to see the truth” and “you’re deluding yourself” and so on. Stop replying to him, and the thread will die. Ignore him in other threads and he will eventually go away. He came here from The Bad Astronomy board because he got more attention, he gets more hits, and he has a richer pot of dirt in which to spread what he considers his fertilizer. No matter what, you will NOT get a meaningful reply, he can NOT hold a meaningful conversation, and you will NOT “beat him with logic”, because that word has no meaning for him. ---

The only thing I’m concerned with is whether or not he is really psychologically troubled to the point of doing somebody harm. I could care less if he wants to see President Taft in the face of his Timex, but if I keep ragging on him (which is kind of fun), I’d hate to find out he noosed up on his ceiling fan or worse fire bombed The Chicago Reader or some psychotic shit, ya know? ---

I know a guy named Adam. He’s a nice guy, generally. He doesn’t communicate very well (a slice of autism combined with heavy drug use, I think). His primary form of communication is shifting back and forth on his feet, blinking his eyes a few times, spasming, and muttering, “Fucken’… fucken’… shmigget…” or some other nonsense word, like “froyhoyen” (we think that’s how it’s spelled). Sometimes he’ll just make weird beeping noises. Other times… well… he’ll be eerily coherent. Now don’t get me wrong. I like Adam. He’s a nice guy, and he’s got some good stuff going on in his brain. It just has a hard time coming out of his mouth, is all. He’s a handful… things get blown out of proportion to him, and he does odd little things for no reason (one time, he hid in a big barrel, and then jumped out and screamed “Frumasarah!” at the top of his lungs). He can get angry if he thinks he’s been slighted. And, of course, he’s always muttering, “Fucken’… fucken’ trees… cowboy hats… fuck.” Despite all the hampers to his communication, I’ve found him to be a far more receptive and coherent individual than Mr. Art is. I dunno… I think I keep posting to that thread because it either gives me some sort of morbid fascination, or it makes me feel smarter than I really am. In either case, I’ve seen the guy repeat “I have all the evidence I need” far more times than I care to count. Needless to say, my next Chick Tract parody will be “The Apollo Missions: Starships and Space Cities Prove It A Hoax”. ---
