# Self-burning children's books--a labor-saver for angry mobs

A book with a button-cell battery apparently catches fire in a minivan. Be sure to treat your copy of _JJ’s Potty Time_ with caution.

Having had to watch endless hours of Cocomelon with my grandkids, I can understand the motivation to burn such a book, but it’s not so much about censorship as it is the retention of my sanity.

Still, yeah, scary!

Same here (FairyChatMom and I have matching aged grandchildren-I’m fairly sure she’s retained more of her sanity than I have). For me, Blippi is even more cringe inducing, I have to leave the room for that or else I’ll start saying bad words that will get me in serious arrears with my daughter when the grands repeat them, most likely at school.

I dislike toys that make the sounds/noises for the kid because I think they override the child’s creativity and imagination so as a extremely indulgent grandma otherwise I just don’t buy or give them any that require batteries. A side benefit for all the adults in the vicinity is less maddening noise.
