carpet guys are coming over to clean the carpet so hopefully we can have the twins back in their room and in their own beds tonight! On a related note, my daughter keeps waking us up 2 times a night saying she is scared and won’t get back to sleep for hours. She says it is because they watch Scooby Doo at daycare. I asked daycare today to ban her from watching anything “scary.” Parenthood is so wonderful 😛 ---

I was thinking the same thing, **swampy** , about the HFUNs. I just got back from their house with a stop at Sam’s Club along the way. They’re having a clambake as a surprise birthday party on Saturday and _nobody told me it was a surprise_ and I nearly gave it away. I’m hoping that we managed to cover our tracks on the awkward conversation that followed and that the birthday girl didn’t notice. I feel kinda bad, but like I said, I had no idea. ---

Nice one, **Soapy** , I like it! And you might get lucky: my boyfriend throughout high school, and beyond, refused to have penetrative sex due to a pregnancy scare when he was 15. So…yeah. Learned a lot during those years about sex that would not produce pregnancies. 😃 (Also learned I couldn’t spend that much time around someone that controlling, but that’s the downside, lol) Today is looking like another 9 hours of the phone being tied up due to trying to connect with EDD. I can’t believe it’s not criminal, somehow, to refuse service to customers by making damn sure nobody ever, ever, ever gets through. EVER. But as complaints about this date back to the dawn of the internet \ there’s nothing for it but to waste days and days and days trying to get an answer that can only be gotten this way. I would happily Pit this system, I really would. But I just did; I’ll be back after another hour of denial and see how I feel then, hehe. Otherwise, it’s Thursday, which is almost Friday, so happy Friday Eve! ---

My son is very shy and he’s a ‘nerd’. I think. He might be a ‘geek’. I know there’s a difference. He keeps to himself. He’s a great kid but I wish he’d have some friends. He says he has friends at school but he doesn’t bring them home. He says they are like ‘poker buddies’, fun to hang with but you don’t want them in your home. WTF does that mean !!! He had a friend coming over for a while, a girl but not a girl friend. I was working nights at the time so I kept falling asleep while she was here, and I was really tired the next evening. I told my son that the two of them laughing would wake me up, but even worse was when they got quiet because that would really wake me up. He was shocked \*SHOCKED! \* that I would even think something was going on. She is NOT that kind of girl. I swear I think the stork dropped off the wrong baby, because he is nothing like his father or I was at that age. ---

What’s messed up is that when you first file for unemployment, you absolutely MUST contact them by phone first. And I couldn’t do it. The 4 people I worked with who were laid off at the same time couldn’t do it. I found a number to an actual office, that does not take these calls, and got lucky enough to catch a lady who was nice enough to take my information and got a call-back appointment set up for me. That was the only way the other women got through, either. It’s seriously messed up. We still joke that they could kill two birds with one stone by hiring those laid off to answer phones. 😉 The people I did talk with were amazing, and awesome, and fantastic. It’s just getting through that is virtually impossible. On the other hand, I’ve managed to get a new record of one minute and 29 seconds on each attempt, whoohooo! See, you call, press one for english after 7 seconds of dead air, then you must listen to a message about how to go online and do stuff. Then you wend your way through a phone tree, after which you input your social. Then they tell you some more stuff, then they tell you they are busy, try again later. Thank gods for speakerphone, that’s all I’ve got to say. I still want to know what happened to busy signals, or queues. You must be lucky enough to hit someone just coming off the phone at the exact second they are clear, apparantly. It’s…draconian and antiquated and…wow. I’d rather have a busy signal. ---

Hi guys. I had a really rough day and night yesterday. We had to have a family meeting with my Dad’s doctor yesterday at 5:30. The news was hard to hear and heart-breaking. The found a five centimeter mass in his lungs that is pressing up against his heart. It’s malignant and is a type of very aggressive small cell cancer and is inoperable. They can’t treat it with chemo or radiation due to his low platelet count and leukemia. He has three to six months left to live. I’m feeling all sorts of things, but the strongest feelings are grief, guilt and anger. The anger is at the situation. The guilt stems from not seeing him often enough. I don’t have much time left with him and will have to make the most of it. I plan to spend as much time as I can visiting him; sharing good memories and talking. I have so much to share with him. Anyway, I’m sorry to be such a downer. I’m just feeling really lost and sad right now. ---
