Selfie Stick user, stick it up yourself!

Errrr.

Or are you going to hang your hat on the word “prick?”

hmmm, but is that actually what I said? I certainly said I think they are pointless in general but awful? they make me angry? nope…not my words.

All you people hating on the selfie stick must have really long arms and tiny heads. I got short arms and a big pumpkin head so all my selfies are of my forehead. IF ONLY I had a stick!

I wonder why the OP is so upset with these 3-foot sticks but not too bothered by the 6-foot invisible force field we all must avoid while people line up a group shot of their family at the CN Tower. He must be that guy who just walks through the shot. The stick is keeping him from doing so without getting thwacked.

Fine, remove the word prick.

Care to reply again?

Well that is the bit I object to seeing as that’s the bit I never said.

When I want to insult people you won’t be needing to put words in my mouth, it’ll be fairly obvious and you’ll have plenty of my own words to quote instead of inventing what you’d like to think I said.

I’m sorry I implied that you think people are pricks.

Can you address any of the other things I said?

Fair point, if the photo taker is taking up the full pavement I will walk through the shot, if an easy alternative is available I’ll take that.

fair enough

In all honesty I think I have, what remains unaddressed?

Well, no offense to her, but for all I know your wife might be just as shortsighted and self-serving as you seem to be right now. She doesn’t make a very good yard stick for this discussion.

OK, question for you. Do you think the people using selfie sticks without care and attention are in the wrong?

And you’re at a tourist-y spot, getting annoyed because people are taking pictures?

Our conversation isn’t about people using selfie sticks “without care and attention”. We were talking about how you think people who take pictures of themselves are selfish.

So, what is proper “care and attention” use, with respect to selfie sticks? Your posts make it seem like you are against them as a whole. Hell, you even plan on instructing your kids to walk into them.

Dear Miller,

Today I ::heart:: you.

No, no, no. Read my original point again with care, it is exactly that.

No, go back and read again. those taking pictures of themselves and get in the way of others while doing it are selfish (in the general pejorative sense), those taking selfies that don’t intrude on others are not selfish (in the general pejorative sense), but their motivation for taking a selfie…most likely…is selfish (in an unpejorative sense)

That’s not what you said here:

No, getting annoyed at people taking photos would be silly. Is that what you think I said?

Yeah, well there’s not much I can do to help you at this point. I encourage everyone to read the post you’ve linked to and see exactly what I’ve said.

hint…it is exactly what I claimed I said above.

hell no, look as much of a cock as you like, it’s what makes the world go round. Just don’t wave them around and make people dodge them or walk out into the road as you wave it around looking at the screen rather than the surroundings. Sort of basic decent human thoughtfulness.

Didn’t think I’d actually have to clarify that not everything in OP was entirely serious.
My subsequent post about photographing my genitals wasn’t serious either.

So if somebody hands you a camera and asks you to take a picture of them at some historic location, you lecture them on how horrible they are to have pictures of themselves?
