I almost can’t watch the “Sober” video all the way through. I like the song, but the visuals fill me with revulsion. I just forced myself to watch it and now I have this feeling of impending dread…

Tool is my favorite band of all time, but I can’t watch a single one of their videos. I love Tool’s sound and even their lyrics, but the videos make me extremely uncomfortable.
Agreed. My favorite album is “Undertow” -I’ll listen to the whole thing over and over, but after seeing the vid for “Sober”, I tend to avoid the videos altogether and just enjoy the music.
For listening experience: “Sober” and “Prison Sex” are kick-ass tracks. Well, as a Tool fan, I love all their stuff, but these two are my favorites.
I dunno why the videos make you not want to see them: they are some pretty darn neat stuff: yes somewhat disturbing, but then the songs are sort of disturbing. I think Prison Sex is pretty phenomenal as a piece of art.
By accessible I mean that the lyrics are relativly straight forward. While Aenima and Lateralus (and Undertow to an extent) are very heavy into the spiritual/mystical.
I agree with you about their music video’s. There are very few bands that have used that medium as well as they have in the past (its been awile since one has been released).
I dunno: the lyrics certainly have a layer of mysticism over them, but if you can’t figure out what Stinkfist is about…
