Republican men are reminding me more and more of not so bright teenaged girls who idolize pregnancy. They think it’s all cute baby clothing and glowing all day. Mature adults know it’s more like get up puke, puke some more, puke even more, grab your aching back, watch your ankles swell into golf balls that won’t fit into any shoes followed by three hours of shrieking until the OB decides you’re dilated enough to get an epi and then six months of leaking and baby chewed boobs or formula guilt and thinking five hours is a good night’s sleep. ---

What a clusterfuck for the Republicans. The bigger problem for the party is that Akin isn’t the first Republican to say something like this, and it’s starting to become obvious that there’s a sizable chunk of Republicans who are agnostic on the whole concept of rape. It’s the whole “A man with his pants around his ankles can’t run very fast” mentality, and it’s really sick. ---

I just want to go on the record as saying that MY hormonal processes are not particularly “delicate” and my body and hormonal processes go on chugging away like nothing is wrong, even in the aftermath of serious physical and emotional trauma. I think old men need to STFU about it. But what I find really scary is the scientific factuality or lack thereof means nothing to these people, he could’ve had a dozen daughters impregnated after being raped by a gang of bikers and that wouldn’t change his outlook. ---

What amazes me is yes, Republican women continue to vote for these nutjobs. Republican women are immune to rape. Republican women have had to have abortions. Republican women also would like to stop having babies after 2, or 3, o4, please thank you very much. But it’s only OK for them, apparently. The only moral abortion is their abortion. ---

It was reported that the Republicans had until today to replace Akin if he dropped of the race, he just announced he is not leaving. Now, I do know that the Republican leadership has told him that he will be on his own, but as he is a tea party candidate I think that he is expecting still a lot of help from them; yeah, I know they officially have said that the Tea Party is distancing from Akin, but as my crazy tea party relative showed me with his glurge, I’m afraid that there is still a good number of them that will continue to support him. But I think they will fail to put him in the senate anyhow. ---
