To be clear, I see where she is coming from but also think she is going about it the wrong way. And I also think that El Sayed is fumbling a very easy response.

Yes, I agree with that too. In this election, after the primary, support Democrats in the general, period.

The fact people here have wasted much of a Saturday arguing about whether or not one specific candidate needs to denounce an ad that wasn’t even his, an ad placed by a person who specifically wanted this kind of disruption to the candidate’s campaign, shows that the troll did his job.

Good going, y’all. Uygur would be proud.

> I’m really curious as to what makes you say that.

(Re my not thinking El-Sayeed is one of those using anti-Israel as a means to express and foment antisemitism.)

Don’t want to to ignore stuff I breezed past.

I have no reason to think so any more than anyone else who has said little on the subject. I presume not unless evidence to the contrary, and having antipathy to Israel is not such evidence. And FWIW strong support of Israel is not evidence against antisemitism. A decent number of Christian Zionists are both, for example.

> [@Chronos](#):
>
> Antisemitism is completely unacceptable, and so I don’t want my elected officials doing anything antisemitic. Like, say, amplifying antisemitic messages. Fortunately, El-Sayed has chosen not to do so, even when others, like Stevens and yourself, are begging him to amplify antisemitism.

I do not accept that ignoring hate speech out of fear of amplifying it is necessarily the best response to it. It sometimes is, I grant. And there are times it is a very bad choice, akin to be a bystander while someone else is bullied. Not explicitly cheering it on but easily interpreted as approval.

To be very clear: Stevens is a tool in more than one meaning of the word. Rogers is awful. A Democratic Senate majority is within possible reach and is necessary to fight against major harms in our country and world. And the trolling works because it exploits a real calculation El-Sayeed has made.

Apparently FBI agents and other DOJ people are traveling to parts of Alaska and knocking on doors and asking people about how they’ve voted. I can tell you that this is a really wrong tactic to try out up there, especially in small towns like Sitka, where this has happened. You’re as likely to have a gun stuck in your face as you are to get an answer to your question.

People in general are more likely to be open about who they are _going_ to vote for than about who they _did_ vote for, regardless of where they are. The former is just a prognostication while the latter seems like a violation of the secret ballot.

Correct. Alaskans are typically libertarian, or just get-away-from-government-and-everything-else types (other than the $1,300-ish oil revenue annual handout). Not really “conservative,” necessarily.

Is there a source for this apparently?

I can find some other door knocking but not that. This -

My final prediction is that Dems will control 53 or 54 seats. Worse case scenario: a 53-47 Senate. But the ceiling seems to be 54-46.

I think Dems win OH, MI, ME, KS, GA, TX, NC, AK and all the usuals. If things swing even further blue, we pick up IA, but that’s it.

I’m basing these predictions on Nate Silver’s current polling averages. IA still remains the only real wildcard tossup, imo.

Yeah, it’s an odd place. Nationally, it votes red. But locally it’s surprisingly diverse, with Anchorage having both R and D mayors and governors when we lived there, and a divided legislature that actually worked together.

A reporter for CNN interviewed a woman who had an agent knock on her door in Sitka and ask about her vote.

I don’t trust MI or ME. And I have no better than 50% confidence in TX or KS. OH, GA and NC are safe, and I think AK will still go to Peltola after this Decoy Dan nonsense.

I think that makes it 49D-47R with 4 toss-ups (MI, ME, TX, KS). I think if I had to bet I’d say 51D-49R (Collins holds on once again and El-Sayed comes up achingly short, but KS and TX come through).

I predict 56-44 Dem with D pickups in ME, OH, IA, TX, MS, AK, KS, NC, and SC. In the cases of TX, SC, KS, and OH- this is largely due to Republicans putting up terrible candidates. Add to that the own goals on inflation and Iran and you have the makings of a massive blue tsunami.
