Sorry, I meant to talk to Falcon. She’s a gov’t contractor. No offense, Tracer… [Philosophical whimsy] You know, a call to ‘inform local authorities’ is difficult on the Internet. Local where? Local where I am? Local where David B (the victim of Formeragent’s threat?) is? The location where Formeragent is? The location where Finder is? (Well, now, if he works in the same building as Formeragent, then it seems he’d be the best person to arrest him. But that’s beside the point.) And what precisely are the net admins supposed to do? Does Ed know where David is? Or Formeragent, or Finder, or me, for that matter? And if he did know, what exactly would he do? And how do we advise the local authorities? That’s the difficulty with the anonymity of the internet: none of us know who Formeragent or Finder are. David B is more willing to admit who and what he is IRL than many of us, but after all, that too could be a hoax. How many have ever actually met each other face to face? Do we have proof that any one else on the board is, indeed, a real flesh and blood person, and not just a auto-generated message created by a supercomputer somewhere? Or, even, bits and bytes being inserted into our message traffic by aliens, inhabiting a space station on the dark side of the moon? [/philosophical whimsy] ---
