I have a friend who doesn’t use Facebook and has no intention of starting (so “just get him to use Facebook” is not a valid answer to my problem).

With some cutting, pasting, and editing I was able to get an understandable copy of a FB Messenger conversation into an e-mail so I could send it to him. Still, the result was a little messy. Is there a way other than cut and paste to export a FB Messenger conversation into something else so I can e-mail a “nice” copy of the conversation?

I’m of the monthly to quarterly usage variety and I am not checking layout…😃

If it fits on one screen or just a couple you can take screenshots. Then mail the picture(s).

Do they have a cellphone? I am assuming they don’t because you asked this question but why not use regular texting unless they don’t want the cost of a cellphone or they are in prison.

The conversation itself is between a couple of people that do use FB. I’d like to send a copy of the conversation to my non-FB friend after the conversation is over. So, at that point it is too late to text everything without even greater hassle than cut and paste.

Screenshots are the way to go, I think. It’s what my kids do while reporting on conversations that various friends have missed. Then they text or email the screenshot to the person or people who missed the first conversation.

In the case that stimulated my question, it would take several screenshots. However, I may just do that next time it becomes necessary. I was hoping for some sort of “export” feature that I didn’t know about. I guess that’s a bit much to expect from Facebook.

I believe Facebook’s exporting functions have always been limited to information that _you_ entered, not that anyone else did. So, you can export pictures you took, but not pictures you were tagged in that other people took, etc.

So, probably there’s no way to export a conversation someone else took part in, and there won’t be.
