:: stands up and pushes back lawn chair :: I joined this week as a present for myself and just wanted to say “hello”… “Hello” I also posted my first post [here](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&postid=3986455#post3986455) and my first thread [here](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=212318) and wanted to see if I could insert the references correctly. I’ve lurked around for a while but finally wanted to join in all the silly and enlightening conversations. I really respect all the conversations that arise where people discuss their opinions, support their arguments with facts and cites. I often feel intimidated when the various sides post well-reasoned, erudite discussions, but I intend to live up to my “username” and join in with observations of my own. 🙂 I’m a Trekkie[sup]tm[/sup] who likes hard science fiction, string theory, Sunday comics, my pond in the back yard, chocolate, and Movies Of All Kinds. My wife’s birthday was yesterday - no she’s not one day old, but how **do** you say that correctly? Any other people with birthdays today? ---
