# September Board Member Decanting, Our Itty Bitty Ranting

I wonder how garbage collectors are killed on the job. Run over? Caught up in the machinery? Any stats on that?

Well, we also praise the nurses, teachers, cops and firefighters as well on a regular basis - so I disagree with your implication that only the military gets the unearned love and glorification. Face it, some jobs get celebrated, and others are ignored or denigrated.

My uncle’s crew (GTC, garbage/trash/compactor) used to take naps in random dumpsters where the supervisors couldn’t see them.

His coffin was 2x2x2 feet. My aunt saved a lot on the lumber.

WTF is it with people who go up to the salad bar and have to select every individual leaf of lettuce/greens? I just want to go all John Pinette on them and hiss “_get out of the line!_”

Last month I mentioned the issues with my brother-in-law threatening my wife.

One month on; the good news is yesterday we got a two-year domestic violence order against him at court so he can’t be around my wife or the kids, at our house or the kids school. So yay us!

Now it looks like my MIL has decided that we are the ones being unreasonable in not wanting a violent, abusive, coke-head criminal with rage problems around our boys. She is supporting her poor, misunderstood, little boy (“He’s just venting, it doesn’t mean anything.” \<-- direct quote) and is pissed off at us for following through on the DVO.

Stupid, abusive (verbally/emotionally, thankfully not physically because he would have been chopped into pieces and buried in multiple unmarked graves), lazy, fuckhead of a loser manchild fucking up what was supposed to be a super awesome vacation. I actually had to pull the “dude, I’m a mandated reporter and I need you to stop doing illegal things in front of me, else I will be required to make a phone call that will get you stripped of your clearance and sent back to the US” card. I shouldn’t HAVE to pull that card while I’m on vacation. \>.\<

Other Half and I have had several conversations with the wife, who is OH’s much beloved cousin, and while she agrees she is at her wit’s end, I don’t think she’s ever going to leave him. I’ve watched him over the past week play the abuser card to the T, and I know it’s going to take a huge straw to break this particular camel’s back, but I hope she decides to get out for the kids’ sake. We told her the moment she makes the decision she will have plane tickets, a place to stay, and a monthly allowance for as long as she and the kids need.

Flight out tomorrow, thank the gods.

My rant is looking so mini after those two… hope both of your situations get better soon, guys.

I’m supposed to have 6 years more of periods left. Will it look bad if I go to the gyn and ask to get the bits yanked preemptively? I’ll be good and take my steroids! (And hopefully will have a better response to them than my mother and aunt did) _whine whine whine_

Sure, and thanks to unions, your work week is closer to 40 hours than 80, and your kids can go to school instead of getting respiratory diseases in the mines or mills, and your employer is required to maintain a certain level of health and safety in his workplace, and you get days off, and maybe even insurance and a pension, and and and…

You don’t have to be part of a union to benefit from what they’ve done for society.

Shrug, right now I’m dealing with the hot flashes and the PMS and the bloat all together. Intelligent design my left ovary!

True. A large portion of what is commonly considered to make this a decent modern country, is thanks to organized labor.

Never mind holidays, we wouldn’t have had _weekends_ without them.

Sounds like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

This happened with my uncle, actually. In my Grandmother’s eyes, he could do no wrong, no matter what asshole thing he did. He died of a heroin overdose when he was 30.

Maybe you’ll get lucky. 😉

I put some dinner into a pot to heat up last night, turned the knob to start the gas and… nothing. My gas is off. It’s 11:30 pm. I call the gas company emergency number to see if the building got turned off or something. Guy tells me they replaced the meter and a tech has to enter my apartment to verify all the oven pilots are correctly re-lit and the gas cannot be turned back on until then… Well great! I may not be the owner, but I am the PAYING CUSTOMER. I could have been available if they had, you know, contacted me. At all. An email, voice mail, anything. I can’t coordinate anything at this point until Friday. Fuckers. Plus, the meter was just changed in January 2015, so what’s the deal? I went through the same bullshit with gas turned off for three days. Yes I it’s just cooking gas. Doesn’t matter, I’m the one who pays for it! Fuckers.
