I don’t think that counts as anything but damp (I know other places are worse, but in my tiny mind they are used to it and for the most part they chose to live there. I on the other hand chose to live in a cool moist climate, and I want it back stat!) ---

My short term disability payment got f\*cked up because my doctor didn’t send them in time :headdesk: I’m going to have to empty my entire savings to pay bills this month. I am not a happy camper whatsoever. If anybody chldes me I’m going to punch them in the throat because finances are my biggest trigger. The fact that my husband is waiting for his first unemployment check isn’t helping either. Someday I hope to have a garden-variety rant, LOL. ---

We finally got them trained out of it. Recently my mother asked about The Newest Nephew’s potty-training just as I was serving the meal; Bro got his “Zeus has nothing on me” look; the kid’s mother answered “😕 ongoing, but should I really go into details at the table?” Mom looked at Bro and me and apologized. ---

Dear Customer: Please don’t invite me to your church. And don’t offer to pray for me. I do have a church of my own, but I don’t feel like talking about my religious beliefs with strangers, especially when I’m on the clock and can’t run away or be rude. I’m not sure all my co-workers have churches, but those who don’t are presumably happy without them. Or happy enough, anyway. ---

Anti-rant: We have power again!!! The water has dropped, but its still plenty wet. Rant: My right rubber boot got snagged on something and has a small leak about ankle high and duct tape doesn’t stick very well. Electrical tape is slightly better, but I still get water sloshing around. Thank goodness for Amazon because while there are rubber boots available, they are super sized and I’d kill myself trying to walk in them. ---

I bought an AKRacing chair not quite a year ago. One week short of a year after ordering it, one of the legs breaks. I contact AKRacing with the invoice and pictures and they ask me for the original receipt (Hey chucklefuck, that would be the Amazon Invoice I gave you) and say that they don’t make it anymore so I’ll have to deal with the seller. No, you stupid motherfuckers, this is your chair, you made it, you warrant it. All I want is a replacement base for it. Stop being douchebags and send it. ---

I am surrounded by sick people. I have no right to complain, because I’m fortunate enough to not be one of them. But the stress of worrying about them and their recovery and test results is crushing me. It has manifested itself into me being fucking angry about everything little thing. So people are running, limping or crawling (depending on their abilities) to get away from me. ---

It’s a really bad idea to pluck your eyebrows after a couple of glasses of wine. Trust me on this. One side was severely over-plucked, the other not quite as bad at first but I had to even them out. Fortunately I have long bangs that cover the worst of the damage until they grow back in. I also have a hair appointment on Saturday and I can see if someone there can make it any better. ---

Trimming one’s bangs after a few drinks is also not a good idea. I have overdue library books. When the water started rising, they got tossed in a box and moved upstairs and forgotten about. I found them today. I can’t renew them online, it’s down. Our local library is flooded and I’m not sure where there is a branch that is currently operational. I’m sure that there will be an amnesty period or something. There really aren’t any Library Police, that’s just something that grown-ups tell kids so they take care of their books. This is seriously upsetting me all out of proportion. ---

I’m relieved that someone there can worry about the little stuff, as opposed to “I’m on top of my house which is floating out in the Gulf with six rescue animals and one jar of peanut butter and it’s a steep pointy roof…” Thank Og you can think about library books. Which I’m sure will have a grace period this month… ---

Thank you for that, digs. Your post was like a glass of ice water to the face and was very sorely needed. Fussing about getting a black check on my library record is nothing compared to what others are dealing with. We don’t have water in our home and only lost 1 vehicle. We still have some food and water stored, our critters are safe, our section of the swamp has running water (don’t drink it!), power and internet. Not to mention that pets are being reunited with their people! Our pictures and descriptions of most critters don’t match anything their people remember, so we have been encouraging anyone with lost pets to check all of the shelters in at least 20 miles. Our shelter is just a rented warehouse with plywood walls. We can usually hear when a dog sees its human. It is one of the happiest sounds ever. Cats are also being reunited, they just aren’t as noisy about it. Besides, the overdue fines cap out at 10 bucks per item and I am sure that if I offer some volunteer time to work the fine off I will be forgiven. I’m not quite sure if the black checkmark will be erased, though.
