No big-ass shower of sparkles to start it off, no mass amount of floaters, no lingering gray or visual disturbance, nothing. Normally a curtain of gray/big “light show”/huge amount of floaters is an actual, vision-threatening emergency. ---

So, the Homebrewing club that\*\* geneb\*\* and I belong to had a tent at Oktoberfest yesterday. ☹ But I couldn’t come, because I had a cold which turns peoples’ noses into founts of mucus. Geneb went, though. Lucky bugger. (He did bring some cotton candy back, which was good. But still. Cotton candy is not beer!) ---

And, realistically, it ain’t gonna happen, mostly because his folks are not known for their gung-ho let’s-do-ALL-the-things nature. I generally take two headache pills with caffeine and they go away in about twenty minutes that way. Do you know of any other meds that can help head them off? I’ve been getting them more frequently as of late: once a month rather than once or twice a year. I’ve never talked to a doctor about this problem but it was obvious that what they are. Thanks. Since this is the pit, fuck you Idiot Brother. My dad was yet again whining to me about paying for a cleaning lady. IB lives with my dad. IB is 39 and pays no rent. There is no reason for dad to have to pay for a cleaning lady because IB should clean the fucking condo just like every fucking adult on the planet including me who spends about 30 minutes every single day cleaning. I’ll say this: the poor woman deserves every penny she gets if she has to put up him. He was also whining to me that sweet husband did not actually call him up directly after his wife died last year. Never mind that my husband got on the phone at least five times and expressed condolences. Apparently my darling husband (who unlike IB does his fair share of chores) did not call dad directly specifically to tell my dad he was sorry my mom died and I’m supposed to side with my dad over my husband. ---

There are some migraine preventatives out there. Mind you, I had the standard migraine headaches in addition to the scotoma/aura, so they might have been more concerned about knocking those down due to the pain. Since the retinal migraine can be related to other problems, however, perhaps they might treat them the same. I was on off-label amitriptyline for a while, starting at a small dose and increasing as needed, until the neurologist said it had apparently stopped working. The neurologist may also work on trying to identify triggers. Currently, my preventative is a Mirena hormonal IUD. It’s knocked out the migraines entirely (_knock wood_) for a few years, and I only get the auras maybe a few times a year or so. Back when I had standard migraines, I welcomed the auras because if I popped 4 Aleve (this is double the usual dosage, do not take this unless recommended by your physician) when the aura was just a little sparkly dot, I could avoid anything more than a standard mild headache and feeling like I was hungover the following day. ---

It has been a long hot summer and tonight it’s pretty nice out, so I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood. Before leaving I opened all the windows and closed the bedroom doors and turned on the HVAC fan. It draws outside air in the living room and window and blows it out the bedroom windows and does a very efficient job of airing out the house. Apparently it’s also a really nice night for my asshole neighbors to smoke like half a pound of weed just on the other side of the wall, because my whole fucking house smells like a Snoop Dogg (Lion?) concert. Dicks. ---
