I Pit UMass-Boston for not placing signs indicating that classes have relocated. I further Pit them for having no rhyme or reason to the room numbering system in Wheatley Hall.

Speaking of stupid bagger tricks, do stores employing baggers of “normal” abilities not bother training? I’ve experienced having eggs or bread shoved in with 2-liter bottles of liquid, cleaning products in with produce, stuff taking seven bags that I could do in a much better organized five bags with none overly heavy, like items (which I DID group on the conveyor, TYVM) scattered all over the total number of bags, etc.
I’m developing a serious fondness for “bag it yourself” places. At least that way I get sane packing.

Second rant of the day: idiots who DON’T stop for the school bus with flashing lights and their stop sign out, who swerve around those of us who are stopped just to have to slam on their breaks to not hit kids. Why is there never a cop around when you need one!

I was in Midtown for some years, now in South Sac (and from the daily police report web page, Natomas and that area of town sound a lot scarier than where I live!).
100% agreement with your rant. I’d also like to extend it to morons who will pull the “swerve around and speed up” bit when another driver has the nerve to obey traffic laws and stop for pedestrians at crosswalks, and to the selfish vermin who refuse to move over to let emergency vehicles through. They’d flip out on someone who harmed a member of THEIR family with stunts like that, but apparently don’t think anyone else’s family matters if it means being delayed for a few seconds or even a minute or two (the horror, the horror!).

We’ve lived here for 20+ yrs. It’s just grown so much, so fast that in many areas it’s out of control. We are in the older part and have never had any issues, though.

But the economy is doing SO well…:rolleyes:
Last paycheck I saw was in Sep of 11, and the only reason the city I live in has a 15+% unemployment rate is 30,000 people moved out.

There is a disabled woman who works at my local Safeway - she mutters angrily to herself most of the time, and she tries to run over people with the carts and brooms (well, technically, she obviously doesn’t see very well - I’ve learned to get out of her way when she has a cart or a broom, because she WILL mow you down! :eek: ).

Ha. You know, I don’t know why, but for some reason I usually don’t mind. Just today my checker at Target looked at the organic sugar I bought, commenting that she didn’t know they had organic sugar (and at a good price, too, same brand at my tiny organic grocer is 50% more), and then a bottle of Lawry’s Chili and Garlic seasoning salt caught her eye, and I said I was going to get two of the regular seasoned salt but this one caught my eye, too. There’s a checker at the Trader Joe’s I go to who also comments if she sees something she’s tried and thinks is good - she, I sometimes wonder if she’s just hungry.
I mind a lot of things, and can get annoyed easily. I can’t figure out why I don’t mind the checkout thing. Maybe since I like the stuff I’m buying, I want other people to try it too.

I would be irritated by the “Wow, it’s really expensive” comment, but not by comments in general. It’s just tacky to comment on how much someone is spending.
I do most of my shopping at the co-op where I’m a member. People are pretty friendly and ask what I used certain things for or suggest new meal ideas. I don’t mind that.

My BIL is being a douche. I made a comment on something one of my kids said on facebook (what? it was cute and yes, I’m one of _those_ parents) and he commented back that it was too bad that my daughter was allowed to say something my son wasn’t and that it was too bad we’re so unfair to him.
First, that was hurtful and inappropriate in a public forum. If you have a problem with my parenting, comment in person.
Second, I don’t think it is unreasonable to expect my son to be more responsible than my daughter. He’s 7. She’s 3. With the additional responsibility also come additional perks - he can play outside without adult supervision, he gets to stay up later and has privileges she doesn’t.
Third, I would’ve thought the comment she made was hilarious whether he made it or she did. She just happens to be more pithy than he is. For what it’s worth, she whispered to me that she was going to be a sweetie everyday but Sundays. On Sundays, she said, she plans to be rotten. I let her know that if “rotten” meant sweet, she was fine.

The problem is, I tend to like opera, and I don’t want to use well-sung opera as a weapon (hence my wish to use Florence Foster Jenkins and her badly-sung opera. Music that nobody’s guaranteed to like. 😉 )

The Food Lion near the town where I grew up had a mentally troubled man employed as a bagger/cart guy. He once pushed a cart in front of me as I was driving in front of the store.
I’d like to pit the bitch who was smoking on the sidewalk this morning and blowing smoke in everyone’s faces. While I’m a non-smoker, and I find the concept of “smoker’s rights” to be rather silly, I’m pretty sure that assholes like you are the ones responsible for giving smokers such a bad reputation.
