Don’t know whether this has been broached before, so here goes… Today I was having my regular morning coffee and chit-chat with [cabdude](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/member.php?userid=44322) and we were talking about the Star Wars series of movies and other series of movies generally. If two movies are made, it called be called a double, a doublet or a duo. Three could be called a trilogy, a triplet or a trio. Four could be called a quadrilogy, a quadruplet or a quad. Five could be called a pentology, pentuplet, pentangle or pentagon. Would six be a sexology or a sextuplet? 😕 Are any of the above correct??? 🙂 ---

I know that the four movie DVD set for the Alien movies is called the _ **Alien Quadrilogy** _, but it’s not a real word. If anything, it should’ve been called the _Alien Tetralogy_. So four is **tetralogy**. Five is **pentalogy**. If you insist on more, I’d guess six is **hexalogy** , seven is **heptalogy** , etc. But this is really kind of moot after 3 or 4 since after 3, most people just call a series a **series**. ---

In away I’m dissapointed that we’ll never seen Episodes 7-9, because I really like the word “nonology.” ---

Usually once you hit 4 or 5 the correct term is “ **overkill** ”
