That is a travesty. I don’t understand the love for Jennifer Coolidge. She’s fine, she’s somewhat entertaining but Emmy award against Rhea Seahorn (robbed year after year)? Every one on that nomination category can act circles around JC but especially Rhea and J. Smith Cameron (though she was underutilized in the Succession finale). ---

I started watching _ **The Leftovers** _ (Max) last night. 2% of the world’s population just disappears one day. I’m only a couple of episodes in but it has me intrigued. ---

The Leftovers is one of my favourites. Season 3 was probably my least favourite, but I liked the ending. ---

Though regarding last night’s Emmy Awards, they do seem to be lazy in their voting, giving six awards each to Succession and The Bear, five to Beef and two to Last Week Tonight. [I thought it was weird](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/schitts-creek-sweeps-the-emmy-awards-for-comedy/921164) when Schitt’s Creek swept the comedy awards three years ago, winning all seven. ---

Rhea Seehorn was _ **robbed** _. I don’t hate Jennifer Coolidge, but I don’t get all the love for her either. And her one-note shtick gets more and more grating in every new thing she pops up in. She’s basically doing an Owen Wilson impersonation (oh _ **wow** _). Or… is Owen Wilson doing a Jennifer Coolidge impersonation? ---

Probably the least dramatic awards show since LOTR:ROTK swept the Oscars 20 years ago. If Succession was a nominee, it won. If The Bear was a nominee, it won. If Beef was a nominee, it won. And I watched and enjoyed The Bear, but….Comedy? I don’t recall laughing once. ---

I have long contended that the Emmys should put a limit on the number of times a performer or show can win in the same role/category. 2 seems right…put a special gold star on their second trophy and then give someone else a shot. ---

I did think the episode where they catered the kid’s birthday party and accidentally spiked their punch with Xanax or whatever it was was pretty funny. But in general I agree; I really enjoyed The Bear, but it felt more like a drama to me. Honestly it seems like if the episodes mostly have a ~30 minute run time the show goes in the comedy category; if most of the episodes are ~1 hour it goes in the drama category. ---
