Basically the MC can hear people’s emotions in the form of “heart songs” as they (unknowingly) perform for her. There is a grief and loss storyline which I think is one the best depictions I’ve seen on TV. It’s tender and heartbreaking and also beautiful and inspiring. It was nice seeing a loving, functional family for a change. ---

We’re on the last episode of Cobra Kai. She’s seen it before. I haven’t. I’m loving it, but season 3 is a bit of a disappointment. Too much suspension of disbelief is required. We’ll be finishing that up and starting Leverage: Redemption tonight. Hope it’s good. On my own, I’ve been watching The Stand, which I finished but didn’t like very much, and Horrible Histories, which was awesome (!) up until the cast/format change. “Stupid deaths, stupid deaths, they’re funny 'cuz they’re true. Wife and I started Grey’s Anatomy at the beginning of COVID. When we finished the first season, some quick math showed that at the rate we were going, it would take until May or June 2021 to catch up. And that’s exactly what happened. So now we can finally catch up on all the other stuff that we had put “on hold”. A couple of weeks ago we started the latest season of Manifest. Fortunately, only a day later we heard the announcement that it had been cancelled, and we agreed not to waste our time on the rest of the season. I hate it when a show’s entire reason for existence is based on some sort of mystery, and the mystery deepens, and they throw you all sorts of bones, but the show gets cancelled without any real resolution. That’s exactly what happened with Under The Dome. I have tried to promise myself that I would never again get addicted to such shows under after they have resolved themselves, but the first episode of Manifest was just too good. Live and learn. 🤬 ---

Season 2 of _Central Park_ snuck up on me so I just binged the 5 available episodes. Season 1 was just _okay_ but I think Season 2 is much better written and that s2x03 _Fista-Puffs Mets Out Justice_ was just plain brilliant in the animation, songs, and story. ---

I can knock out two categories from the OP with the same show: _Criminal Minds_ Started watching a couple months ago. I had never heard of it, and figured it was a new Netflix series. When I saw all the characters using flip phones I googled it to find out the show first aired in _2005_. Binged most of the first season, then got fed up with it. Got spoiled on some developments in later seasons so I just stopped watching altogether. So it goes. ---

I’m working my way through _Elementary_ (on DVDs from Netflix). Really enjoying the evolution of the characters. Between DVDs arriving I’ve been watching and enjoying _Lupin_ on Netflix. And another vote for _Derry Girls_ (and the subtitles, despite my Irish ancestry). I also had the same reaction as Tabco to _Criminal Minds_. I liked _Picard_ as well. ---

Five current shows that I have been enjoying: - Animated series _The Owl House_ is in its second season, with some of the dynamics changed as new stories open up. - _Making It_ is back! Yay! - _The Mysterious Benedict Society_ on Disney+ is a lot bettter than you might expect, with some great performances, some quirky character actors, and great direction and cinematography. Has a Lemony Snicket/Wes Anderson vibe. - I also really enjoyed _Bosch_, and look forward to what’s coming next. - _Sweet Tooth_ is a weird little post-apocalyptic feel-good show. Filmed in New Zealand, so I recognise some of the landscapes. ---

I recently signed up for HBO Max, and was delighted to see that they have _Forensic Files II_, the revival of _Forensic Files_. After one episode, I’m ready to throw in the towel. The producers hired Bill Camp as narrator (replacing the late Peter Thomas) and his stentorian delivery is too much for me. I may try a few more episodes to see if I can get used to him, but I’m not feeling optimistic. I’ve also given up on _Survivor_. I was once a huge fan of the show, but it’s become a frenzied, chaotic mess. ---

There was a recent thread looking for recommendations for “dramedies”. Based on recommendations on that thread I recently finished Better Call Saul and am now watching Lucifer, White Collar, Doc Martin and just started In Plain Sight. Thank you to those who recommended these. ---

Older series: Three comedies and one drama - for plain enjoyment. I won’t try to intellectualize them by claiming any special acting or plot devices. Not for everyone, and that’s perfectly OK. “Fish” with Abe Vigoda. Typical late 1970’s comedy. “Fractured Flickers” From Jay Ward who brought you Rocky and Bullwinkle. Think of it as MST3K for silent movies. It is showing up early Saturday mornings on one of the broadcast movie channels. “Green Acres” No more need be said. “Adam 12” (Film Noir filtered through California sunshine!) Yesterday’s technology: “Find a pay phone and call it in”. And to see the CARS people were driving back then. ---

Recently watched _Hotel Del Luna_ on Netflix, really enjoyed that. Korean fantasy about a hotel for ghosts, episodes are more like short movies really at more than an hour each. Some different sensibilities (a lot of repeating of scenes, for instance) but really gorgeous, and well-acted. We’re watching _The School Nurse Files_ next. Am currently watching _Sweet Tooth_ - I think up to episode 5 - it’s enjoyable and beautiful but suffers from me having negative sympathy for the doctor and his wife in their subplot. I’m actively rooting for them to die. And soon. We started watching _Sense8_ but I bailed after the Kenyan character’s actor was switched (new guy didn’t gel with me, and also the whole heroin subplot did _not_ appeal,) my wife finished it though. ---
