_Matlock_ 2024 I’m watching it live on Monday nights. It’s on Paramount+ if you need to catch up. Kathy Bates has starred in several tv shows. She always excellent portraying characters… She’s working undercover in a law firm as Madeline Matlock claiming that she hasn’t practiced law since 1990. Matlock is very clever and plays the harmless little old lady to get people talking. Can’t say anything more without Spoilers. So far it’s been very good. I wonder if they will wrap up the season 1 plot? It’s not the type of plot that can be sustained. It’s like Season 1 is the character’s transition period for Season 2. ---

Finished: **The Umbrella Academy** (S4) - I’m not entirely sure I followed every thread in this weird universe (in part because I’ve forgotten stuff from the previous series), but it does wrap things up as neatly as we were likely to get. Aidan Gallagher continues to be very watchable indeed. **Young Sheldon** (S7) - More of the same, although the show has been increasingly drifting toward serious content. There were still plenty of moments to make me laugh out loud, though. ---

Not to mention the tension with the family and Sofia. More than that, though, origin stories that drag on like this one aren’t interesting to me because I know he wins. I noticed that too. Oz is ruthless from the beginning. It’s more interesting when a characters values get corrupted as they do questionable things to climb upwards. ---

I’ve been watching Georgie and Mandy’s first marriage. The opening credits really play up the Patrick swayze resemblance. It is okay so far, way too many commercials. ---

I just watched the first episode of the new Day of the Jackal series on Peacock. I am a big fan of the original movie and hated the Bruce Willis movie from the 90s. Other than being a talented sniper, there doesn’t seem to be too much in common with the book or either movie. However, I was entertained enough to keep going. ---

We’re nearly finished watching UnREAL. For the first three seasons, I’d say that it’s a great, scandalous bit of schlock entertainment. Going into season 4, it’s sadly poignant. It should be the biggest hit of the year, despite being 8 years old. ---

I missed the last couple of seasons of the original broadcast run, so I started watching again the other night around the beginning of S5. YS is one of those shows that I originally thought I was going to hate, but they did a really good job of making it about more than just Sheldon. ---

The first two episodes of _Sweetpea_ on HBO. It really hooked me. A very low self-esteem young woman with a lifelong bully in her life is finally pushed beyond just wishing to kill people in her life who have made her miserable. Very bloody, but with a bit of humor. The actress (ella Purnell) playing the lead is very good. I knew I was getting too emotionally involved when I was yelling at her to kill her sister before she Julia, because then she wouldn’t have to move out of her house. I’m curious to see where it goes.
