I just finished the third, and last, season of **Mr Inbetween.** Hard to describe, but really good. It’s about a low on the totem pole, but respected, independent enforcer for the Aussie mob. And his family troubles. There is a bunch of violence, but the main character is fascinating. He’s got a great little half smile when people start threatening him. ---

Really liked that series. Even though the guy has almost no redeeming qualities, and is a murderous thug with no conscience, somehow you want him to come out on top. Another series that has that same sort of anti-hero is **Rake** , an Australian series about a lawyer with no ethics and few morals, but it’s pretty funny. ---

A couple weeks ago, I started watching Supernatural which is one of those popular shows I knew of only on the far periphery of my existence, via Facebook memes and side column articles about whether it was renewed for another season. It’s pretty entertaining; I don’t know if I would say _good_ but it has a popcorn quality that lets me crack wise during an episode without feeling bad about spending time on it. I’m more surprised that my wife had never watched it since anything in the CW-tier paranormal/superhero genre is usually right in her wheelhouse but now she’s watching with me. Just got into Season 2 and not sure I’m up for 15 seasons of this but I’ll go along for the ride until the wheels inevitably fall off. ---

I’m not sure how to answer this. It is not about serial killers but serial killers figure in the story a fair amount (some recurring characters and a story thread that spans multiple episodes). They do not focus on the serial killers stalking people but it is described and there are a couple 3-second scenes of them killing their victims and other scenes where they are threatening people of what will come (and the people being threatened know who they are). The show centers on “evil” (i.e. Satan/demons) causing people to do bad things. But it is ambiguous if, in the show, were are to believe the demons are real or just made up and it is just bad people/psychopaths doing bad things. For network TV it is surprisingly good and it can keep you on edge which is a good thing (if you like that and considering that is their goal and they succeed in it). ---

Thanks. We watched episode two, and my overall take was, this is interesting, but not quite interesting enough to justify how scary it is (I’m a scaredy cat.) So we are going to leave it for now. We watched _Star Trek: Lower Decks_ which is so much fun. It’s an animated comedy about a group of ensigns on board one of the least important Starfleet vessels. It is quite endearing. While the humor is a little edgier than you’d see on standard Trek, it is Trek to the core, down to the heart and the hope. Available on Paramount Plus, the world’s worst streaming service. ---

However there really is supernatural stuff going on in the continuing storyline. ---

I really enjoyed it- great performances by both of the leads. The only complaint is the daughter- she is very annoying but so many other interesting supporting characters you can put up with it. ---

**We Are LadyParts** (Peacock) is a gem, and only 6 episodes (IIRC) so not a huge commitment. And there aren’t many other shows about British Muslim girl punk bands. ---

I’ve started watching _Katla_ on Netflix. It centers around the ongoing eruption of a volcano in Iceland (the aforementioned Katla). However, strange things are afoot and missing and/or dead people are showing up among the ashes. It is rather slow in development, but I wonder where this is all going. I’ve also been keeping up with _War of the Worlds_ on Epix. The story really has nothing to do with the Wells story except that aliens arrive and a virus is involved. It also stars the irresistible Daisy Edgar Jones from Hulu’s _Normal People_. ---

Old cop shows that we never saw the first time around: MONK So much fun. Got us through lockdown, almost finished with it all. Not sure we’ll ever find a better show to hunker down with. The Closer/Major Crimes Unique in that the main star (Kyra Sedgewick) left The Closer, so they bumped the second-in-command up to main character, changed the name of the series, and kept the _brilliant_ supporting cast. Rizzoli & Iles I’d always skipped it, thinking it was a low-rent Cagney & Lacey. But tried it, got hooked, and some of the episodes are remarkably sophisticated writing. Old Magnum/New Magnum Really just for the scenery. I post during episodes, because I don’t care if I miss key plot points (not a ringing endorsement, I guess). Columbo No need to say anything. …except there’s just one little thing… ---

I just recently signed up for Disney+ and am struggling through the 1st season of the Mandalorian. I am actually shocked at how much hype this show got when it came out. The plots and writing are horrible and some of the characters look like leftovers from _Buffy the Vampire Slayer_. Sure, Baby Yoda is cute, but that’s about the best thing I can say. I keep hoping it gets better.
