I don’t know if this is the right thread for this, but here goes. I usually watch the Monday episodes of The Daily Show because they’re hosted by Jon Stewart and less often watch the episodes later in the week, because they’re not. And I rarely watch the interview segments. But last week, there wasn’t an episode on Monday and the one on Tuesday was hosted by Ronny Chieng. The guest was Ann M. Martin, author of many of The Baby-Sitter Club books, and Ronny Chieng’s fandom was fully apparent. Apparently when he was a small child his three-years-older sister read the books to him and this started him on reading. His enthusiasm was cute.

Edited to add, here’s the interview from YouTube.

I second your recommendation about Rony Chieng’s interview of Ann Martin. I was initially disappointed that Jon Stewart wasn’t doing his usual Monday gig, so I thought I could just skip it. Then she came out and Ronny fawned over her so much that I thought it was a skit. But as the interview proceeded I was enthralled; his connection to the books was awesome.

He proposed a couple of new titles for her to consider, such as _Stacy’s Mom Goes MAGA_, to which she said “Nope!”

Then he asked her about some of the backstories of the books, like how did Stacy’s father get so rich. After some discussions, she turned to him and said, “You’ve thought of this more than I have!” It was like a Trekkie asking William Shatner about some minor plot point in an episode of _Star Trek_.

Truly a remarkable interview.

My issue is that in the first episode, it really isnt clear where and especially WHEN they are. The film skips time in several instances, and except once, no dates are given,

Note only the first episode has been released. The second episode has been completed but not released because of poor viewership of the first episode. And the third and fourth episodes have financing issues, although Costner is still doing some work on them.

I was/am confused about this. It’s for television, though, right? Like a TV mini-series not all filmed in advance?

The first movie was released in theaters two years ago, though it poorly enough that the second film was only shown at film festivals.

It was available to me as a “limited Series” not as a Movie per se.

and I did say-

Is a “Limited Series” okay here, or just long running series with many episodes per season?

Sometimes a show meant to be released in the theatres is released instead on TV as a Limited Series".

Kinda weird.

I started watching _Prodigal Son_.
HBO/Max

It’s an Intriguing idea. The son of a serial killer has similar impulses and dreams.

He chooses to become a profiler for the police while still struggling with his own mental stability.

I’m enjoying it so far.

I just hope this character doesn’t turn into Dexter.

I’m watching the Korean series **My Royal Nemesis** on Netflix. So far it’s a warmed-over rehash of various tropes: a notorious concubine from ye olden days is transmigrated to modern times where she gets involved with the heir to a conglomerate. Presumably I’m missing some comedy about the way she speaks in olde-timey language because I’m watching it in English, but I doubt I’m missing anything ground-breaking.

I liked the show, mostly because of the cast. I do have to warn you that it doesn’t come to a natural end. It was canceled after 2 seasons.

I binged Black Doves on NetFlix over the past few days. Good but not great, unless you really like a series with a convoluted plot, a lot of flashbacks, and a shit-ton of gunplay and killings. Don’t think I’ll be watching Season 2.

As it happens I rather do 😉. I do agree it was good not great, though. But “good” is good enough for me to give the next season a try, whenever that happens.

Finished season 4 of Clarkson’s Farm. Still really enjoying it, but that had to have been a heavily scripted season. Too much went “wrong” for laughs. Like we’re supposed to believe Kaleb didn’t know Jeremy would hire help why he was away? He certainly isn’t a good enough actor to pull of trying to act upset in the slightest.

And so much seemingly self-inflicted pain on opening the pub. They should have just pushed the opening date back but I suppose it makes for more entertaining TV 🙄 Or Jeremy is even a bigger buffoon than he plays up (also possible).

At any rate, I’m still enjoying it enough to continue on to season 5 which is the most current one.

I came across **Childrens Hospital** the other evening on tubi. WOW - not what I was expecting. I don’t know what channel it first aired on in 2008. I’ve never heard of it, and it was on for 8 years! It has a great cast; Rob Corddry, Ken Marino, Erinn Hayes, Megan Mullally, Michael Cera, and Henry Winkler. I only watched one episode, and the episodes are very short. I’ll go back in, because I’m very curious now.

My husband and I are watching **Steal** (Prime), a limited British series about a heist. I think we held our breaths through the first episode. Very intense.

I just finished the first season of **Beef.** I’m still not sure if I like it or not. At times, it was just too much.
