We’re giving **Vienna Blood** a look. Seems sort of Sherlockian to me and possibly somewhat formulaic, but we’ll see how it goes. It really annoys me that PBS censors the foreign shows, blurring out nudity and bleeping curse words. Is this something they are required to do, or is it just prudishness? ---

And it took a LOT to overlook the bad science in the first episode. I’m about halfway I think (up to episode 5), and though the series keeps getting worse (lots of mysteries, conspiracy theories, and unexplained stuff), I find myself continuing just to learn the big reveal. The series seems to be a mashup of a lot of different sci-fi sources. A lot of it feels like **Aliens** and there’s some **Andromeda Strain** thrown in. All of this with some **The Expanse** like intrigue set against a **Book of Eli** of maybe **Children of Men** dystopian backdrop. Aside from the bad science, what makes this difficult to watch is how unrealistic this crew behaves. Not quite as ridiculous as the team in **Prometheus** (still the low point in human space exploration), but illogical actions just the same. We’ve crash landed on the moon, so we have no means to get back to earth. But let’s not waste time getting the communications working at the space station - let’s continue on with our mission first I will watch this to the end…and then likely regret it. ---

I finished _Silent Sea_ largely because I like the two leads from other shows. I could tell exactly where it was going from episode 3. ---

Just finished **inside Job** on Netflix. It’s a goofy cartoon about the secret organization that _really_ runs the world behind every conspiracy theory you’ve ever heard. Over-the-top is the default setting, and it’s trying way too hard a lot of the time. But there are also plenty of good laughs and, surprisingly, a little bit of actual character development. Not great, not bad. I’ll watch season 2 when it comes out. ---

I’ve been checking out an episode every now and then. I think it’s certainly “watchable,” and by that I don’t mean to imply I’m damning it with faint praise. But I can’t help but think they somehow could have done something more with the premise. I’m not sure what, though. It just seems to me that maybe some ingredient that would have really made it **pop** got left in the cabinet. ---

I watched the finale of season two of _Beforeigners_ last night. The series reminded me a lot of _Alien Nation_, which I loved. I’ve really enjoyed it but I thought the alternate timeline stuff in this episode was boring and didn’t fit into the time travel world as it has been presented to this point. Fortunately, it didn’t take up the entire episode. I think the ending with Alfhildr realizing she is Lars’ granddaughter was a good setup for a season 3 but it hasn’t been renewed as yet. I’m very interested to see where they go with it so I hope it does get at least one more season. ---

Well, even though she doesn’t _appear_ in it, I would watch Lizzy Caplan in anything, so I’m muddling my way through _Inside Job_, but I’m not spectacularly impressed by it. ---

**Doomlands** (Roku channel - free) - a brief animated series the producer bills as “Mad Max meets Cheers in a Mos Eisley Cantina” with an art style between Bob’s Burgers and Rick & Morty. And I would say that’s fair. It’s not hard to binge, the 10 episodes of season 1 are only 10 min each. It feels like an outline or 10 episode pilot of perhaps greater ambitions which it has the potential to attain in future seasons. I liked it and would recommend it to fans of the above genres. ---

Watched _The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window_ (starring Kristen Bell). It is supposed to be parody, and it does have _some_ moments of humor, but they are so few and far between that the show mostly plays like a straight very dull, very clichéd mystery/thriller. (Up until the end, and I guessed that was a possibility several episodes back.) ---

Currently on episode 3 of _Single Drunk Female._ Interesting how they manage to emphasize her propensity for making bad choices, and how she’s really only striving for sobriety to stay out of jail, and yet still make at least a little sympathetic. Unfortunately, I’ve known people like this (not that many, thank Og).
