_Billions_ is more about how money moneys and politics politic, although there’s a fair amount of law going on too. But if you’re expecting a law-focused series, it ain’t that. Overall it’s pretty good, although the last season was a massive disappointment. ---

Well, we’ve only seen half of the most recent season (seven episodes, I believe) as production was stopped for the pandemic. I believe new episodes start airing in September. The whole story is about money and class and power. Without really providing any spoilers, the Damian Lewis character was a poor kid who went to Hofstra and then went to work on Wall Street. On 9/11, he was just about the only survivor of his firm, which was in the World Trade Center. And his wife’s family was all firefighters, and I think one of her brothers died in the event. He’s made billions since 2001 so he’s extremely wealthy and powerful and more than a little corrupt. Meanwhile, the other lead character is Paul Giamatti’s, who is from a wealthy family and went to Yale, along with his wife, but is the United States Attorney, although that’s a relatively low-paying job. He has his own secrets, more of a personal nature. And his wife works for Damian Lewis’ character, so that’s a source of conflict between the two. ---

I was looking forward to the Taylor-Chuck-Axe battle promised at the end of the previous season coming to a head, with Wendy pinging around madly between them all. Instead we got a new nemesis, more Axe backstory and an episode about the entire office getting stoned. These character and story arcs really ought to be on the downward slope by now, but they’re milking it at the risk of imminent shark jumpery. ---

Finished up to the latest episode on Ted Lasso, it really was enjoyable and grows on you. I am not sure how they will find much conflict to resolve through biscuits in this season but last see how it goes. Tried watching the latest Grand Tour Lochdown , yeah I know I have a low bar for entertainment , but dear lord that was abysmal, I may had found my tolerance for staged shenanigans, 5 minutes trying to turn a car around a tight corner whilst moving couple of trash cans around was the height of wackiness. Do not watch. ---

Horrible things do happen to characters you like. But they also get some wins almost every episode. On top of that most of the episodes have genuine moments of comedy. Sprinkled throughout the series or episodes that are straight up comedies. The mixture of episodes, moods and emotions make it enjoyable and not a slog like _The Walking Dead._ I just finished _Derry Girls_ last night. Very enjoyable but I found I had to explain all of Irish history (as best I know it) to my girlfriend to give her context. ---

A British show starting in 2009 about some degenerates doing community service when they get super powers. It’s a great mix of serious drama, and light hearted comedy. The wheels fall off at the end of season 3 but in the beginning it’s worth it and it kept entertained for the same reason as you mentioned above. 1st episode is a bit off as a pilot, but it finds it’s stride quickly. ---

So I’ve finally finished _Sweet Tooth_, and I’m not sure I’m going to bother with Season 2. 3 thoroughly unlikable protagonists are around 2 too many for me. I like Bear, and Big Man, but I find our titular hero’s absolute stupidity insufferable, and actively loathe the doctor and his wife even more that I did at the halfway mark. Zoo lady I’m neutral on. Wanting 3/6 main protagonists to die in a fire is not a good sign. ---

I bought the complete series on DVD (25 bucks at Amazon) so I’m in for all six seasons. I’m midway through S2 and the whole daughter going to church thing is just getting started.
