# Serious question: Why didn't Bush face impeachment over Iraq?

I believe there was a general and growing anti- american uprising in the region. The general rule of thought at that time was if we go over there and kick somebodies ass the rest of them will quiet down. This worked pretty well until dissent for the war started becomming louder.

No, the reason for the invasion was Saddam’s Weapons of Mass Destruction. Which many of us regarded skeptically.

Bush wasn’t impeached because the Democrats are less likely to impeach or file lawsuits against a President.

The publicly-stated one, that is. :dubious: Oil, Halliburton profits, and Bush’s need to prove himself more manly than his father were others.

History doesn’t really support that claim.
