I always envision a dubbing session to correct the soundtrack with the people in the movie sitting around a table with coffee and donuts making all the dialog, and mumbly moany sounds.
Any porn we watch we also do with the sound off, other than some of the classics like [Deep Throat](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deep_Throat_%28film%29) [love the music they picked in the sound track, and some of the dialog is hysterical] or [Ribald Tales of Canterbury](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089917/).

Not really a valid point. Porn is a product, presumably they want the widest number of people to buy it. If the vast majority of people don’t like it, why do the porn producers keep showing the spitting? Ali Davis’ experience indicates an answer: a small minority who DO like it are driving the porn marketplace. She observes that this group also is the one who pushes porn toward more and more extreme behavior, because they get bored of whatever the current big thing is and so something more novel and generally, more disgusting comes along. Frankly, I am vaguely surprised that watchable porn exists for normal people.

The spitting thing is nothing compared to many of the things that have become common in porn, like sperm swaps. Yech!
For me, I want to suspend disbelief that the girls genuinely are horny, and are enjoying themselves, and with stuff like that you can see that they are not.
You’d think that things that are most common in porn must be what most guys like, but I don’t think that’s always the case (just like Hollywood has lots of tropes that usually spoil films but persist nonetheless).

Yeah, whenever I’ve seen the ‘cum swapping’ thing, all it’s looked like to me is a couple of women dribbling spit into each others’ mouths. Very perplexing and certainly not conducive to maintaining my boner.

Totally gross when they just do it because it’s expected of them and they think it makes the porno hotter.
And yet, spitting does sometimes occur naturally in the case of sexual encounters, and could be exciting to voyeur on if it was a an unplanned part of amateur sex “caught on tape”.
