Also, specially if the scenario were as described in the OP (a brief marriage in his 20’s, no issue) it would not even interfere theologically with Catholic priestly celibacy – a policy of the RCC, not a dogma – since a widower can join the RCC priesthood.
Maybe that was why his followers were surprised to find him talking to that woman?
And if He was maried, his wife would’ve had to wander around with Him; He didn’t have a permanent, home did he?
I think I might have a problem with him abandoning Mrs. Jesus for a few years to hang around the back roads of Judea and with his friends and then dying in (if I understand correctly) a society where women actually did need the support/protection of a man (father/husband/son/etc.) He does pass the responsibility of taking care of his mother at the end, but doesn’t do so for his wife? I have difficulty reconciling that with my idea of the behavior of a good husband.
