Bob Knight, the coach everybody loved to hate, was notorious for referring to under-performing male basketball players as “girls”. But I think even Knight would have blanched at illustrating his point with a tampon, in public, at a televised event. ---

Yeah, that’s the thing. I knew for a long time that he isn’t exactly a PR wizard, but someone who’s been in the media spotlight as long as him should have _some_ concept of the word “inappropriate”. Wasn’t he the target of some racist garbage by an old veteran (Fuzzy Zoeller?) a long time ago, and that pretty much carpet bombed what remained of that man’s career? You think Tiger would’ve learned from that. Also, as a matter of general principle, I don’t think someone who’s ranked #1294 going into the tournament should be doing any kind of chest thumping. 🙄 ---
