The leather on the hilt looks brand new, so I’m guessing it was wrapped after discovery so she could hold it safely.

Now, that I think on it, isn’t Excalibur always shown as a longsword? That appears to be a claymore she’s wielding.

But we actually don’t have a clue what Excalibur would be. Could have been a simple steel Spartha for all we know.

Even if it was a movie prop, it may well have been properly forged - actors tend to react badly when swords break.
