11811,

The rule of thumb is that if you have to ask about it, err on the safe side.

I’ve known more than one man who used lube when masturbating, so I wouldn’t necessarily assume that an open bottle meant that a lot of women had been in his bed before me. And I can’t imagine finding an open bottle somehow unsanitary, unless it was obviously dirty; when appying the stuff, the bottle doesn’t usually touch the skin. I also don’t automatically think of anal sex, either; I’ve needed it on a handful of occasions, especially when using condoms.

May I be the first to suggest that perhaps the lubricant could have been soley for the man’s personal use. It doesn’t neccesarily mean that he’s having anal sex with tons of different women.

And as has already been mentioned, many women experience vaginal dryness on occassion. Sex for prolonged periods can also drain women of their natural lubrication.

Having a bottle of lube handy does not imply anything “bad” about that person

Nope. Sorry, it just seemed kind of funny.

That said, lube is good. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing or how well you’re doing it, it’s just generally good.

I’m in the odd position of thinking that I’m not bothered if somebody pulled out a half empty bottle but I’d never do that myself.

The last person I was with had absolutely no trouble moisturizing herself naturally. Nevertheless, we occasionally used lubrication as well. Why? The texture was different. The viscosity was different. The sensation was different. It CAN be used even when it’s not necessary just for a new type of stimulation.
Likewise, is lubrication needed for masturbation? Not really. But changing things up can be good.

So, to reiterate other comments, my lube isn’t being used on the asses of random one night stands (sigh…).

Why would you need lube at all? I didn’t realize people under the age of menopause acutally used the stuff.

Woman checking in here.

WRONG, if you need lube, someone IS doing something wrong. If it’s a hormonal thing, it’s only occasionally, and can STILL be fixed by “someone” (ahem, fellows? that means you) doing “something” right.

The only time my boyfriend (of 7 years) and I have resorted to lube is when it’s the 10th time in a row, in 5 days and both of us are sore or if we plan on something a bit kinkier.

Even when I’m stressed, it might take him a little bit longer, but women will lubricate naturally quite well with the right stimulous (stimuli?).

Ah, I mispoke.

Unless the “hormonal problem” is of the variety that isn’t temporary. Personally? I’d be out of there in a heartbeat if a guy brought out a tube of lube.

If a guy “does it right” I don’t need lube, but for the rare occasions mentioned above, even if we DO go for a long time.
