# Sex and the Recession

There was a huge number of out-of-wedlock teen pregnancies from the 1950s until _Roe_. For the most part, the mothers were forced to give up their babies for adoption. It’s called the “Baby Scoop.” [Wikipedia](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_scoop_era) estimates 4 million such forced adoptions.
