Sex before an athletic competition: yes or no?

Was going to be snarky about the shaky scientific background of your comment, but then noted that we are in IMHO.

So nevermind.

Sorry guys, I didn’t know if this was better suited for IMHO or GQ, but I’d rather have peoples opinions. I’m sure someone will come along with some sort of reference though.

I’m not sure if Casey Stengel really said this, or if it’s just one of those great baseball quotes that always get ascribed to Casey… but I’ll post it because it seems relevant.

Casey supposedly used to tell reporters, “Having sex the night before a game never hurts a player. It’s the running around all night LOOKING for sex that kills him.”

Many football coaches seem to agree, which is why some arrange for players’ wives to travel with them to post-season road games. Their attitude is, “If you want sex, have all the fun you want with your wife! I just don’t want you out at bars all night.”

Too right, there will come a time if you settle down with this woman that getting your leg over will be as rare as seeing 9.0 on the richter scale. enjoy it while you can.

I remember years ago reading a comment by an Australian Rugby League coach. He said that the problem wasn’t the sex it was all the effort required to get any.
