I disagree - I think friends can be great Umfriends. After all if it’s a good honest relationship anyway what are you really adding/detracting? And \*\*Lsura \*\* - we’re waiting for an update on how it went. You do realise we all want details now don’t you? 😉 ---

Go for it Lsura, whatever way it goes you will come out of the experience learning something. Some people think casual sex with a friend or just pure casual sex is a no no, I generally think otherwise… Have fun, good luck and practice safe sex. …here it is anyway. I once had a fuck buddy. We had been friends for 12 years when one night she jumped me (I was way too much of a wimp to ever try to put moves on her). The short of it? 6 months of mind blowing sex the likes of which I’ll never forget and at the end the ruin of a 12 year friendship (since we were freshmen in high school). In another thread around here I mentioned that I refuse to hold regrets about my life but this one comes close. The sex was fantastic and the friendship was a great one but was the price of a long friendship worth the sex? I dunno…I really would have hated to have missed out on those six months but I have the sneaking suspicion that the price was too high. But hey…people are different. No reason your experiences need to mirror mine. Just keep a close eye on things. Hope it all works out great for you and the lucky guy! ---

I’m sorry to hear it Jeff but I think too many people here assume it will end the friendship. As I’ve mentioned I’ve had two Umfriends and they’re both still very close. One is my best friend in fact. They’re both currently seeing other people so there’s no sexual contact, but that’s certainly no reason to stop seeing them. They’re my friends. They mean a lot to me. I admit some people will have insecurity problems in some situations but most of them are self-generated. If you can manage complete honesty there will be no problems. At least no problems that wouldn’t have surfaced anyway. And that means honest with both them and yourself. ---

I hear what you’re saying DPR and there’s certainly no reason things can’t work out great. I guess what I was trying to say is sex adds a new component to a friendship. With the new dynamic comes a whole new realm of possibilities…some good, some bad, some indifferent. If you value your friendship it’s prudent to keep a closer eye than normal on how the friendship is weathering this new turn of events. Beyond that I say knock heels till you pass out!
