“Whole Lotta Love”, in particular, comes to mind:

“Way, way down inside, I’m gonna give you my love,
I’m gonna give you every inch of my love”

Between the lyrics, and Robert Plant’s orgasmic “ahh-ahh-ahhh” during the instrumental…nah, not about sex at all. 😉

Oh, you definitely need to check out some of Kate Bush’s songs. She has many that are very erotic but subtle, such as [“The Saxophone Song”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fexNR7nxk8s) with the [lyrics](http://gaffa.org/sensual/l_ss.html) “There’s something very special indeed, in all the places where I’ve seen you shine…it’s in me” and [“L’Amour Looks Something Like You”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFbuUK7CJp0) with the [lyrics](http://gaffa.org/sensual/l_llsly.html) “All in order, we move into the boudoir…I’m dying for you just to touch me, and feel all the energy rushing right up-a-me” but she has others that are not so subtle.

> [@](#):
>
> [“Feel It”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTSKNW3vGRA) ([lyrics](http://gaffa.org/sensual/l_fi.html))
>
> Feel your warm hand walking around.
> I won’t pull away.
> My passion always wins.
> So keep on a-moving in.
> So keep on a-tuning in.
> Synchronise rhythm now.

> [@](#):
>
> [“In The Warm Room”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jchWWJ1wQCc) (about a prostitute) ([lyrics](http://gaffa.org/sensual/l_itwr.html))
>
> In the warm room
> She prepares to go to bed.
> She’ll let you watch her undress,
> Go places where
> Your fingers long to linger.
>
> In the warm room
> You’ll fall into her like a pillow.
> Her thighs are soft as marshmallows.
> Say hello
> To the soft musk of her hollows.

> [@](#):
>
> [“The Sensual World”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJc64xncBt4) (inspired by Molly Bloom’s sexy soliloquy at the end of Ulysses) ([lyrics](http://gaffa.org/sensual/l_tsw.html))
>
> “Going deep South, go down, mmh, yes”
>
> “And then he whispered would I, mmh, yes,”
>
> “He loosened it so if it slipped between my breasts
> He’d rescue it, mmh, yes,
> And his spark took life in my hand and, mmh, yes,
> I said, mmh, yes,
> But not yet, mmh, yes,
> Mmh, yes”

Not quite what you’re looking for, but this is another one that’s quite erotic, to me. Forget the flowers and poetry, just get on with it dammit!

I was under the impression that most pop music for as far back as possible was about sex.

After midnight on Saturday nights my local NPR station runs “Blues Before Sunrise”, which focuses on very, very old blues recordings. About 90% of the lyrical content seems to be sexual euphemism. 🙂 I’m guessing it’s really 100%, I’m just not hip to that final 10%.

“I Wanna Be Your Dog” The Stooges

“Sex Machine” and everything James Brown ever uttered.

“I’m Your Man” and everything Leonard Cohen ever uttered at least if you’re fairly weird.

“Sex Dwarf” Soft Cell, cuz were else am I ever going to get to bring that up?

And then there’s Big Black’s “Songs about Fucking” although while all rock and roll is about sex it’s possible none of those songs are.

And of course the '20-'30-'40 bluesy songs are thinly veiled songs about fucking but at the moment all I can think of are thinly veiled songs about drugs. Oh, wait…“Backdoor Man”

“The men don’t know but the little girl understands…” Indeed.

Ah. Well there’s my point. The other 10 is about drugs which is why that flask in your pocket makes you hip, as well as glad to see me.

I’d quote this lyric from _L’Amour Looks Something Like You_ “…the feeling of sticky love inside”, which is pretty explicit.

Also _Je t’aime… moi non plus_, ibid, 1968. Rumour has it he originally recorded it with Brigitte Bardot, as they had sex in the studio. Then re-recorded it with Jane Birkin who says the sex was simulated.

_Relax, don’t do it_, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, 1983, which seems to be urging gay men not to climax (yet).

My Caribbean grandmother used to sing a risqué calypso called, I believe, _You get on top_. A hotel employee is listening at the door of a honeymoon couple and hears things like “You get on top / don’t make noise / shut your mouth / I am your husband you know” (then the roles reverse, lest you think it sexist). This would be from the 1930s/40s or even earlier.

Yeah, good Lord, the number of pop music songs about sex is limitless. It’s the ultimate target-rich environment.

Going back far what about ‘Anything Goes’ by Cole Porter? Or ‘If I Can’t Sell It I’ll Keep Sitting On It’ by Ruth Brown? Those are both old.

Or more recently ‘Get Down Make Love’ by Queen with the unforgettable “I suck your mind you blow my head” couplet.

Or ‘Tonight’s the Night’ by Rod Stewart with ‘Spread your wings and let me come inside!’ cry?

Really, endless. Endless.
