SO and I watch (and have watched) pretty religiously. I agree that the early shows show their age and you may just want to rent those episodes. As to Lauren Ambrose? Feh, she’s a kid. Give me a woman with some experience and life under her belt. Much, much more interesting and incredibly sexy. ---

The scene in the most recent season of SFU (avert your eyes, **Loopy** – here comes a spoiler) where Claire first realizes her friend Russel is a psycho and is first taken aback and then immediately falls for him (like she’s fallen for every other psycho she’s ever met) – I had to watch that scene three more times just because she was so wonderful in it. –Cliffy ---

It builds to almost cartoonic proportions as you sit there awaiting the fireball. And then the telemarketer gets shot instead. I thought it was brilliant, and, yes, sickly amusing. It’s also amazing the feeling of dread they can give you just be opening the show with a shot of a cradle. Unfortunately, I missed a few episodes somewhere in the second season and lost total track of the plot! And before I’d get that on tape, I’d want to finally catch the end of Sports Night. I’m so behind. I do also like Sex in the City, and I find the characters’ happy go lucky insultation from normal problems to be amusing. Possibly because they seem to be living in an alternate universe version of my beloved NYC. ---

Oh, yeah, that first death (the Dead Guy/Girl Du Jour as they call it) is the best part. I remember the one with the guy trying to light his gas stove, while on the phone with the telemarketer. You were just sure he was going to blow himself up, but it ended up being the disgruntled coworker shooting several others at the telemarketing place instead. The guy lighting the stove heard it all. The one with the cradle… we never saw the baby, but it was all filmed from the baby’s perspective - seeing Mommy and Daddy saying goodnight, and then looking up at the mobile over the crib, and it just faded away. I sat there saying, “No, they wouldn’t, would they?” And then they did. That one made me cry. ---
