When I was an undergrad in the 1970s Masters and Johnson came to speak at our school. That’s Masters and Johnson the sex researchers. _They_ told this story as a factual one, that happened at their establishment. This isn’t your typical Urban Legend FOAF. So either: 1.) M&J were puttin’ us youngsters one or 2.) M&J were mistaken or misinformed by their staff or 3.) This story was actually true at one location. ---

Twenty or more years ago, ‘Dear Abby’\* pubished a letter from a man who was around 40. He was getting married soon to a woman who had been married before, and confessed to Abby that he was a virgin. He asked her where to go for advice. She basically told him that his wife would know what to do, which I thought was a cop out – he was obviously writing to Abby because he didn’t want to have to _ask_ his wife what to do. Abby wasn’t an especially reliable source – she was notorious for falling for urban legends and the like, and even got caught making up letters to herself. But I thought I’d mention this anyway. \*And it _was_ Dear Abby, not her twin sister Ann Landers – I specifically remember the letter writer saying, “Please don’t faint, Abby, but I am a virgin”. ---
