While I initially thought that this was a fun idea, if it causes hurt, frustration or dejection from _anyone_ on these boards, it isn’t worth it. While we, all of us, _do_ have the right to think of individuals here and IRL as being attractive or sexy or whatever, holding a “contest” and including everyone on these boards as a willing participant or not, just isn’t right. **Euty** probably said it best and, as always, I bow to his eloquent wisdom. Due to the problems I was having with AOL this morning (disconnected three times while trying to post, certainly some kind of omen that this was a bad idea), my post was rushed and poorly stated. I _did_ want to make mention that everyone here was deserving of mention, but I rushed my comments in before jetting to work. My abject apologies to all the wonderful ladies of the SDMB’s who I may have offended…there isn’t a soul on these boards (well, maybe a _few_) who I wouldn’t be honored to meet and shake their hand or give a smooch on the cheek. Dopers rock. ---

Just had to poke my head in and cast my vote for Arden Ranger. But then againe, I also post votes for Hama, Sue D., Persephone, Silly Rabbit, Sexy Writer, Mermaid, oh hell, the list goes on! (if your name isn’t here, trust me, it really is, at least in my head). Just like the “sexiest male” poster thread, there’s actually way too many women for me to decisively cast ONE vote for. There have been a lot of women here who have impressed me with body and mind… these are only my drunken ramblings, so without getting way too carried away here, carry on and ignore me. Slight hijack, but I must know I wasn’t able to make it to the March Chi-Dopefest due because I was required to attend yet ANOTHER bridal function for my sister. However, Jar and I were concerned about showing up in the same leather corset and boots. So Jar-What d’ya wear? By the way, I’m looking for a roomie. We’ve got two swimming pools here! Hello guys, the promoter’s back!! The thread I stopped following at 26 posts has now grown to 90 posts, and - despite the all expected, and definitely well-grounded - protestations, the whole thing has been taken in good humor in general. I should make some explanatory statements here, and make my point clear. The idea of a paegeant among this kind of an attendant profile was supposed to be extremely fun, and it’s not proceeding too badly. A paegeant chooses **nothing** but the luckiest among the finite number of nominees who at that moment happens to appeal to the immediate taste requirements of a “jury”. A paegeant can carry no more weight than what I stated above, so this thread does not deserve a place in IMHO, it is M&P, and I Had To Share It! In real life, _I hope_ paegeants are mainly organized through voluntary self-application of the contestants, so maybe I should have started the whole thing that way. Then nobody would be “left out” as it were. I am sorry I couldn’t think of that in the beginning, but naming a “semi-arbitrary” list as I mentioned in the OP would start things much faster. And I let people make as many nominations as they felt like, because - who am I to make a definitive list of 10 nominees for Miss Sexiest Doperchick 2001? I am not touching anything as yet because it hasn’t been 24 hours since the thread has been started. I will wait at least until 48 hours have passed since the start of the thread - maybe more - then I am considering two courses of action: 1. I will thank everyone for their kind participation and drink to everyone’s honour,fun and good times. 2. I will go through the effort of counting every nomination and every vote to make a short list, and turn this into a real contest, among only the names in the list! I know that will cause some people to really raise their voices, but if there is enough support for this kind of development, I will carry it through. 🙂 You know, I want to know who my guests will be!!! A little note in order: I give Sue Duhnym special recognition for being as cool as she is. She couldn’t have found a more graceful way out of a situation she found awkward for herself!! **Keep up the good work fellas - keep the beer flowing, and let the chicks stay happy!** ---

But I’m saying that if I’m to be known solely for being “sexy” on this board, I’d like to withdraw. I’m also funny, spiritual, smart, a good cook, an excellent swimmer and a font of stupid jokes. I received nice emails yesterday, very complimentary and supportive from MEN on this list and I found that to be a nice pick me up in a day of combat that I don’t intend to continue through to today. I also don’t think I was whining at all…but it’s good to know that I’m not on the short list of people whose opinions you ‘listen to’ :rolleyes: **Watermelon Man** I think that you started this thread with your heart in the right place. It was clearly intended for fun and frolic. I don’t believe for a second that you set out to inspire feelings of jealousy, rancor or general crabbiness…but coupled with the Pit thread, it just happened on the wrong day I think.
