Sexism Towards Men, Racism Towards Whites.

UK TV. I’ll see if I can remember the exact product they were selling. Part of what makes these bad adverts is rather than fixing the product in my mind, they just irritate me. But then, I suppose they’re not aimed at me to begin with.

-Some sanitary pad. The ‘fact’ in question is that woman multitask better than men. What it has to do with the product in isn’t explained.

-Rolos

-Female-targeted alco-pop, Twister something.

-Fat free chocolate bar. Can’t remember name.

-Some online recruitment company

-Alpen I think.

These were just a sample that came to mind. Watch any advert break and you’re more than likely to see another with the same themes. Male nudity = always good for a laugh. Female nudity = sexual harrassment. Female inflicting pain on male = funny and he probably deserved it. Male inflicting pain on female = total taboo. It’s lazy and insulting to both genders.

…However, we don’t have to use* the household cleaners. Let the Mrs. deal with that.

IMHO, that’s not true. I think a commercial with a man doing the mopping and a man doing the laundry, both sexes might find it a good sell.

In another thread I mentioned this commercial.

A while ago there was a commercial where some mother in a business suit was running around because she was about to go on a business trip or something. Her husband (wearing flannel and looking as if he just rolled out of bed), and child were looking in the freezer as she instructs them what to do for dinner the next few nights.

“The beef is in the container with a BLUE top, ‘blue for beef,’ and the carrots are in the container with ORANGE… ‘orange for carrots’…”

After she runs out the door, the father… too confused to even figure out where the microwave is, says to his kid: “how about McDonalds?”

I’ve never been so insulted as a man.
I just can’t understand how such a commercial could exist in the day and age.

You would NEVER catch a man doing house work in a commercial. I would think that would please buyers.

I just want to say that discrimination exists everywhere for everyone.

I just think it’s brought up more when it’s women or blacks being discriminated against. It seems there are less critics, (TO ME), when people comment on those. So, I wanted to bring up some that hit the men and the whites close to home. To discuss what bothered THEM, or at least caught their attention without necessarily pissing them off.

In a way, discrimination works both ways even if it appeared it’s only effecting one sex or race. If women are mocked in a movie by men belittling gals BECAUSE they’re a gals, it looks bad for men just as well as it does for women. There’s nothing wrong with people complaining about male or Caucasian discrimination so long as it’s not too excessive. It’s not to whine about it, it’s just interesting to read others perspective and what they find offensive, or just note worthy.

It doesn’t even really bother me much, it just interests me. As would “What commercials BUG you” thread.
