Anyone have some hotel suggestions in San Francisco? I haven’t been there in a few years. I used to stay at the Ramada by the Civic Center, but I guess that hotel has either closed or has a new name. Ideally, I’d like to be on or very near to Market Street. I need to be in walking distance to the MUNI metro, and I’d like to be close to BART as well. There’s that area of SF where the BART and MUNI use some of the same stations, so that’s where I’d prefer to be if possible. I won’t have a car, so parking doesn’t matter. I’d like to keep the price somewhat reasonable, although I’m hoping to find a decent deal. Perhaps a nicer place that has some discounts during the recession and flu scare. ---

If you don’t get any good suggestions here, go to [tripadvisor.com](http://tripadvisor.com), specifically the San Francisco forum. They live for giving hotel recommendations. Ed ---

I’ve stayed at [Hotel Metropolis](http://www.hotelmetropolis.com) when some friends were visiting. For SF, it was very affordable (something like $99/night for a double room) and although it’s just starting to get into the seedy part of Market, the hotel itself was surprisingly nice. They had a wine and cheese little happy hour that was fun, and they’re a short walk from the Powell St. BART station. I’d stay there again. ---

:smack: Duh! I forgot, I must also be close to BART, I’m flying into Oakland airport and I don’t want to have to pay for a cab. I’d much rather take BART to San Francisco.
