When decent folks identify mistakes they’ve made, especially mistakes that may have violated someone’s consent, they don’t make excuses for it; they feel pretty awful about it; they look deep inside themselves; and they emerge better people, determined not to minimize such mistakes (for themselves or others) nor make them in the future. Or something like that, anyway. ---

There is some great news. I was more than a little ticked off by someone with borderline personality disorder and a semi half-dumped me on the same day but I finally got a response from the beautiful, “financially independent”, as she puts it, Russian Poker player. All we have to do is arrange when she calls tomorrow night. That instantly erases all damage. I have no idea why people are calling me a misogynist. I spent my whole night going to an orientation session to send my daughter to a field trip to Quebec for her French immersion program and then sending nice messages to lots of women on Match and Bumble. I still have no idea why I made the Russian poker player sit on the bench because she is a clear 1st stringer but that may have been a good strategy. The problem is that I emptied the bench and have to fill it again. I think the correct term for me is _ogynist_ rather than misogynist because I love them so much. ---
