Shakespere remakes (and that ilk)

That’s ok – my mum is very keen on P & P and was completely blinded by Colin Firth to pick up the refs. (The guy who played Mr Bingley in the Colin Firth version is also briefly in the first Bridget Jones film, by the way.) :stuck_out_tongue:

Now that you know, re read the book and/or see the film again – refs abound!

Not really a Shakespere remake, but the plot does revolve around Shakespere. Check out Renaissance Man
Dany DeVito teaches a bunch of Army recuruits Hamlet.

Tempest. Very very very loosely based on the play of the same name.

King of Texas. King Lear as a wild west cattle baron.

Now I HAVE to see Scotland, PA. I’d heard good things, but that premise sounds great.

I wanted to join in the Ten Things I Hate About You chorus. I thought it looked like another bland entry in the Shakespeare in a high school genre, but it’s actually fun and clever. The '99 Midsummer is worth seeing for Kevin Kline.
